We really enjoyed it. We were walk ins on a Monday night, and fortunately there was a no show reservation for 2 at the sushi bar. Perfect. We were seated directly in front of the main sushi chef. He took good care of us. They had no shortage of the Santa Barbara uni, something we were unable to get at regular restaurants. They make this dish called the Gold shot. If you love uni, you must get it. I had two! I saw some of the negative reviews, and was a bit skeptical of this place, however, we had a really fun time. The fish was very fresh, they had a nice assortment of normal and "unusual" fish (geoduck clams), the sushi chef team was great, responsive, and interactive, and it was fun sitting at the counter. That might be the difference. Get a seat at the counter. I'd go back.

Terrific rolls - smaller sized and delicate - terrific combinations. Upstairs seating is more quiet and there is no lag in service. Out super friendly waitress had great suggestions and never missed a beat. This is a new destination for us when in town.

Arigato does sushi better than almost anyone.

The fish is super fresh, menu items are very creative and the service is solid. Sushi chefs have long time tenure in many cases and they treat customers well.

The Uni here is stupendous, don't need to say more. If you like Uni then just go here and try it.

They have some creative options on the nigiri selection, particularly a variety of seared choices that are quite tasty.

The only criticism I can muster is they serve their beers not quite "cold" - sushi and cold beer is practically a requirement right?

One other thing, no reservations here so either show up early at 530 or show up around the second seating time of around 7 if you are seeking a table. We usually sit at the bar and it works out well.

Our family of 5 went here for an early dinner. We were seated right away and service was quick. The menu was creative and original with roll combinations that I've never seen before. My vegetarian daughter also had many options to choose from. The sushi was amazing!

This is some of the best sushi I've ever had. And better than that, it's the freshest. If you go on a weekend you can expect to wait for a little while, but you can always put your name down and grab a drink nearby-it's worth the wait. The wait staff is attentive, the manager is hilarious and this place usually has a pretty bustling atmosphere. Combined with the sushi, it makes for an unforgettable meal. The mussels to start are amazing, the bay city roll is great if you like scallops, and my girlfriend always raved about the magic mushroom roll-I think it had about 5 or 6 different kinds of mushrooms. The bottom line is you can't go wrong and it's definitely worth stopping in if sushi is your thing.
