“Impressive”

There are few restaurants that reach the caliber of Bouchon. This is a place to celebrate when you are not on a budget and want to feel spoiled. Great food, friendly service and a romantic atmosphere. You get what you pay for.

“We expected more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

We went there for date night, with high expectation as we've heard it is one if not the best restaurant in SB. For appetizer we had the butternut squash soup and the onion soup. The squash was very good and very different with pomegranate seed in it. The onion soup had way too much bread, it almost felt like a dish not a soup. Taste was it was nothing special (onion soup is my favorite dish and I try it in any restaurant that offer it). For entrees we had the see bass which was good and the chicken breast which came with mix sauteed vegetables that had unrecognizable pieces of something crunchy which tasted almost burned. When we asked the waiter what it was it turns out those were grilled pancheta pieces. The vegetables/mushrooms thing was tasty but was overdone and mixed with these burned pieces - not very good.
For dessert we had the pastry with vanilla and apples which was quite good.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience but it was far from great.

“A Classic Santa Barbara restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

This is really a very Santa Barbara , central coast restaurant. The menu is basically French but it's really California French with the focus on fresh local products. The wine list is deep and obviously centered on the great local wines. I brought an older special bottle from a we'll know local winery and the corkage was waived. Perhaps because I gave the sem. A nice pour. I love the restaurant. Do go. Explore their deep wine list and enjoy. The food as well as the wine is great.

“Service and food not great...could be a lot better!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

Seabass was not prepared well, it was rubbery! Rack of lamb ok , but not as good as before, or other places I tried... Corkage fee is $35 on weekends! Service was very confused... 3 people asked me the type of water I wanted in the first 10 minutes. Once the dinner started they were no anywhere to be found. very disappointed !

“Very Good Local Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

This restaurant has a charming atmosphere and attentive service. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. The menu items feature local ingredients of the highest quality. The crab cake was all crab and did not contain any fillers. The ingredients tasted like they were just picked from a farm. If you are visiting Santa Barbara, this restaurant is highly recommended.
