Best Western Beachside Inn
Ranked #24 of 52 Hotels in Santa Barbara
Reviewed 21 August 2014

From our first contact with registration staff throughout our stay we were very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and polite the rooms are without frills but very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is not gourmet but it is tasty and does the job. Close to the restaurants and beaches. The only complaint has nothing to do with Best Western but Santa Barbara itself. Transients are everywhere, Graffiti Everywhere. Three days there and saw one Police Car parked at a restaurant. Approached for money everywhere you go. Don't know that I will return to this once nice small beach community, don't feel safe at night.

Room Tip: Third floor is the best.

The room was nice and clean; the queen beds were very comfortable. Modern decor with a fridge and microwave.
The wifi was horrible. There is # to call for problems(not the front desk) they didn't even know what they were talking about so we couldn't really use it.
The one thing I didn't like was the view. The hotel is directly across from a public park that was taken over by the homeless.
There were about 20 of them living there. They seemed to stay there and were not walking around the hotel grounds.
The hot breakfast was good with many choices. There was eggs, hash browns, bacon, assortment of breads and pastries, fruit-both whole and cut up, yogurt and cereal, milk juice, tea and coffee.
The pool area was very cute but the water was cold! It was heated but didn't really feel like it. All the kids lips were chattering.
The location was right across from the marina and beach.
The staff were all super friendly.
I would stay again.

I suggest eating at the FisHouse for dinner. It is w/in walking distance from hotel. Casual with a nice seafood menu...a bit pricey but worth it(some of the plates were decorated w/real eatable flowers!)

Room Tip: Don't get a room across from the park. 3rd floor was quiet.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. Though the hotel is an older one all the rooms have been nicely renovated without losing the charm of the hotel. Our room overlooked the beach and we could sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view.

The breakfast is really great and there are lots of items to choose from - eggs, bacon, bagels, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and tea.

Nice, comfortable place to stay in Santa Barbara. We would stay again.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the ocean can be noisy due to the traffic on Cabrillo Blvd. Quieter rooms are in t...

I was sure it was a Bestwestern plus since the room was so nice, big and comfortable, the piscine simple but clean and warm, the personnel very helpful. I look forward for the complimentary breakfast. Definitely a place to stay in Santa Barbara. Oh, and the location is perfect by the way...

Stayed here in August for 1 night only on my way to San Diego. Best Location in town, across from the beach, lots of shopping, great resteraunts Brophy Brothers is fantastic , don't mind the wait, it goes fast. The hotel was very clean, comfortable beds and pillows, great shower pressure, the best is the FREE yes free breakfast, eggs, bacon, cereal, toast, bagels, fruit, you name it. No laundry on the facility though. I would give it 5 stars still . Great stay and reasonable

We have stayed here a few times after trying other more upscale hotels in Santa Barbara. The Beachside Inn is clean, convenient and very friendly. Our balcony room overlooked the beach/harbour. We sat and enjoyed the view. The pool area is also well maintained. Housekeeping was tidying up the area constantly.

You won't find fancy rooms here -- they're cozy and utilitarian. But you will find really helpful and pleasant staff who seem to enjoy their job and want you to have a nice time. What you should know: The rooms come with a coffee machine, microwave and fridge. The in-room coffee supplies are pretty meager (no cream, one sugar) and the breakfast doesn't start till 7 a.m. But you can go downstairs to the free breakfast and they encourage you to take food back to your room. No hassles at all. I took extra creamer with me to the room because I knew I was getting up very early on one of the days of my stay, before breakfast is served. Breakfast included omelet, bacon, sausage (I think), bagels, toast, pastries, fruit, etc. Other details: the wireless is a bit slow, and the pool tends to be a bit noisy, but not at night, so that shouldn't be a problem in terms of sleep. The location is TERRIFIC - walking distance to everything you could want (beach, restaurants). Near Amtrak. Convenient to 101, also. Oh, one last thing: They charge $3 a night for parking.
