This place is all about seafood, it's not suitable for a nice dinner with candels as interior is more like fisherman's pub, but the quality of the seafood and atmosphere is very special

We just stopped for lunch on the way back from Pismo Beach to LAX. We shared a fresh local crab which was cooked properly and the chowder was also great.

Been coming to SB now for quite some time and we always make sure before we leave to dine at this restaurant. The location is great, while waiting you can snap pictures and the end of the pier, have a cold beer, meet new people from all over the world, time goes by quickly while waiting. I say waiting because there is a bit of a wait but it seems to go by fast. Once inside the atmosphere is nice and the food is fresh and delicious. Seeing all those tanks of crabs, lobsters, and fresh albacore is always a treat. Tonight we had the 5lb spider crab (enough for two), other family member had the rock crab, split a dozen oysters (they had four types of oysters and we got three of each), everything was spot on. Sat outside under their outdoor heaters on this beautiful night and did not want to leave. Like I said a MUST DO.

Santa Barbara town was very busy so the valet parking was very useful. Very friendly waitress and good menu. We chose Lobster Tacos (very nice) and mixed fried seafood. Had a couple of beers with our meal. Very enjoyable and good value.

SBSC was a discovery while touring Stearns Wharf. It is at the end of the wharf which is at the end of State Street at the beach and yacht club area. It is a little hole in the wall, unfancy place with stools pulled up to window seats and a few tables inside and out. You sign up at the door outside and specify inside or outside seating. The prices are a little on the steep side for lunch but not bad for dinner. They serve everything from steamed Maine lobster, local Stone crabs, Alaskan King Crab, to a variety of mostly shellfish items (clams, calamari, shrimp, oysters, etc cooked in a variety of appetizing sounding ways. We had the lobster tacos ($18.95) which are oversized (could be split) made with doubled tortillas (what a novel idea!) to keep the juices from disintegrating the tortillas. Fresh lobster is sautéed with tomatos, shallots, garlic and basil. They are served with a creamy salsa and avocado on the side and Spanish or white rice. Everyone we saw seemed happy with his/her meal and it's popular with the locals. Our lunchtime wait was about 15 minutes which gave us time to chat with the fishermen and see what their catches were. We had a nicely chilled white California (San Ysidro) Sauvignon Blanc that was around $7 or $8/glass ($26/28/bottle). We ate inside and were comfortable on the stools but the covered booths outside looked a little more comfortable. A great place to watch the water activities around the wharf and on clear days you can see the barrier islands. We saw some sea lions frolicking below the wharf. The restaurant does not have a restroom, however, and one must use the public one mid-wharf or the one on the beach, both of which have limited stalls and long lines on the women's side. There are several other restaurants on the wharf but we liked the funky intimacy of this one. When we asked what they had for desserts, the waiter responded, "more lobster!) So if you still have room, you can check out the other restaurants on the wharf. We were satiated, so it was not an issue for us. Also learned that they are affiliated with the Boathouse restaurant at Hendry Beach which we had already scoped out and ended up having a great dinner there also.(another review).
