We found this on Tripadvisor as a way of accomodating all our family (5) under one roof instead of booking different rooms at a hotel. We stayed at the Bramhall Cottage.
All the cottages/rooms are located in a nice quiet street which is only a few blocks away from the main street and coast of Santa Barbara. Everything was very clean and the (Alice in Wonderland) decor was tastefully done. The beds were nice, deep and comfy with quality bedding ensuring a good night's sleep. There was a good sized bathroom and decent kitchen area too. Although we never used it there is also a small patio area at the rear of the property. We also had some nice homemade shortbread in our room on arrival and there was also brownies later that evening.
Our daughter loved having a soak in the hot tub under the gazebo.
The owners and staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was ample and consisted of a range of choices (including homemade french toast, fresh fruit salad, bagels, tea/coffee & juices). Your choice of eating inside or out on the patio.
We only really passed through on our way to LA & Anaheim but wished we could have spent more time in Santa Barbara. So much more laid back & relaxing than LA! Wonderful sunset whilst walking on the pier before walking down the street browsing at the shops.
We would definitely stay here again, but for longer!

We stopped at The Cheshire Cat overnight on our way to Los Angeles. This is an excellent hotel with off-road parking (some spaces covered) about a 30 minute walk to the beach.

The room was excellent and very well kept. The gardens were lovely. Cheese and wine was put out on the patio at 5p.m. We left early so we did not take breakfast. Our room was close to the main entrance street and traffic noise could be heard during the night.

We would certainly stay here again, but would request a quiet room.

Room Tip: Room away from the road.

My husband and I stayed in the Caterpillar room at the Cheshire Cat at the end of August for 5 nights. The innkeeper, Christine, and her amazing staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Big shout out to both Connie and Bharti - thank you both too!

Breakfasts were always something to look forward to and certainly didn't help the waistline! The wine hour was also good fun, with the opportunity to catch up on other guests' activities for the day.

Santa Barbara was incredibly hot this time - well above average and a lot hotter than our previous visits. This made the Caterpillar room a little hot at times too, as the inn has no AC, however I would not have changed anything. We booked that room because it had a cute balcony which we used quite a lot whilst we were there. Nice to sit outside after dinner and finish a good bottle of wine!

The most friendly b&b we have stayed at! Thank you all.

Room Tip: Cheshire Cat room has an amazing bath but the Caterpillar has the best balcony!

Two Victorian homes built in 1894 on a corner lot, with the Carriage House in the back. This place is like taking a step back in time, with all the luxuries of today, including cable TV and WiFi. Did I mention that many of the rooms have an in-room large tub-jacuzzi? Can't beat the Cheshire Cat Inn for a romantic getaway in Santa Barbara.

Room Tip: Since pillows can make or break your sleep, check the pillows upon check in. Ours was hard and flat...

We are from a town in CT named Cheshire, so while planning a long weekend in Santa Barbara, the name "Cheshire Cat Inn" caught my attention. I called well in advance, and there were only two rooms available - we stayed in "Jean's Room". After a week in the LA area, we drove to Santa Barbara on a Friday afternoon. We arrived slightly grumpy after battling traffic, but were greeted warmly by Bharti, who showed us to our beautiful room, and invited us to the outdoor garden area for wine & hor d'oevres later in the afternoon. There was a plate of delicious shortbread cookies on the table in our room, just what we needed after that drive! We took a walk around the neighborhood, which was beautiful & quiet, but only several minutes away from the Main Street with lovely shops, and restaurants. When we returned, we sat out in the garden area & enjoyed local wines & delicious appetizers in a gorgeous setting. The grounds are meticulously groomed and the flower beds are breathtaking. Later, after dining downtown, we came back & relaxed in the outdoor jacuzzi. So relaxing & beautiful!
Our room was cozy, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and the next morning, we got up early, had delicious coffee & a gourmet breakfast served to us by the wonderful staff. Each morning we were served a different hot breakfast course along with fruit, scones, breads, juices - the works. Everything about this Bed & Breakfast was top notch. If we ever have the chance to return to Santa Barbara, this Inn will be our only choice!

This is my favorite place to stay in Santa Barbara. The rooms have antique furnishings in quaint rooms, yet the rooms all have wide-screen TVs with DVD players. I was in the Caterpillar Room, which had a private deck where I could enjoy reading or just sipping wine. There's also a gazebo with a hot tub for those who want a good soak after a day of sight-seeing. The service is very friendly and the grounds are among the most beautiful I've ever seen. The food is always very good and served on the patio (weather permitting). Go once and you'll be addicted!

Arriving in the afternoon just in time for the afternoon aperitif we knew that this was going to be a good thing. Setting ourselves up in our amazing room, booking a restaurant that was just a walk away (no need for the car here) and having a quick dip in the hot-tub. We slept amazingly well here, it was so comfortable and then waking up to one of the best breakfasts I've had in a B&B before, eating with all the other guests is great for finding out a few tips.

Do yourself a favour and make sure you stay here.

PS don't miss the great cakes that are left in the lobby in the afternoons, you're allowed to help yourself ;)
