I managed to arrive during a short heatwave. Some of the rooms don't have air condition and the innkeepers moved me around every night into those rooms and cottages which had aircondition, which was really helpful. Stayed one night in the Alice room and 2 nights in different cottages and loved all of them. They are thoughtfully decorated and very charming.
Breakfast is really good, especially the different extras every day! Also liked the wine in the evening. Many thanks to the innkeepers, and especially Connie!

Great Location. Walk to everywhere in SB but far enough away to feel the charm of the city. We were there we two other couples each room was unique and more than comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. The amenities were all first class. The breakfast and happy hour were perfect. Incredible attention to detail was really appreciated by all of us. The grounds are immaculate and parking very easy. One of the nicest B & B's in the U.S. Can't wait to return.

This is honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had staying as a guest in an inn/hotel. The property is beautiful and charming and makes you feel like a guest in a friend's home. If you are looking to have privacy, feel enchanted and pampered, yet close enough to everything you want to see in Santa Barbara this is the place. The breakfast is good and presented beautifully outside as long as the weather is nice. Also, the wine and hors d'ouvres is a wonderful and welcoming touch. Common sitting areas feel very homey and nice to relax. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this inn and there is so much attention to detail. I don't know that I would want to stay anywhere else in Santa Barbara. You can't go wrong with the Cheshire Inn.

My wife and I recently completed a trip up California Highway 1, and we had a wonderful stay at Cheshire Cat. This was our first time to Santa Barbara, and it was conveniently located to downtown. It's an older inn, but well kept and charming. We stayed in Alice's balcony, and the view of the mountains created a perfect backdrop for an evening glass of wine. Breakfast was one of the best "Continental" breakfasts I've had as the pastries and toppings were quite fresh (definitely recommend the scones).

Room Tip: Alice's balcony had a great view of the mountains.

A delightful property, full of charm, with excellent staff and management. Easy parking and well located for leisurely strolls down State Street. Our room delighted us. It had a balcony overlooking the garden, a sofa, armchair and so on. No bath but a big shower with Molton Brown products. Some of the local traffic breaks the tranquillity, probably unavoidable in SB, and I wear earplugs anyway as I am sensitive to noise. Breakfasts are sociable, functional affairs although on the first morning of our stay we were offered the most delicious homemade quiche. A real treat! Wine tasting hour in the early evening was a great way to sample some wine and unwind ready for dinner out somewhere nearby. Santa Barbara was a great place to visit, Cheshire Cat Inn seemed perfectly located for our needs, and was marvellously comfortable and charming. Thoroughly recommended.
