“Very good value. Pleasant stay”
Reviewed 22 August 2012

Very pleasant stay. Nothing flash but a nice room on the same level as the pool, small gym, good location and very friendly and helpful staff- especially Abel. It was a shame that we couldn't stay longer.

Me and my husband stayed here just for 1 night during our road trip honeymoon of San Fran to LA. I could have stayed here for another few nights, the service was amazing and were greeted with a lovely bottle of champagne as it was our honyemoon which was really a lovely touch. The staff were so friendly and made the stay even more memorable.
The room itself had a lovely view of the pool, although we didn't use it i did take some time to san bath around the pool and relax, which was nice considering we had been in a car for a lot of the day. The surrounding were beautiful too with loads of flowers and greenery, made a nice change from some of the hotels we had stayed in.
We drove into the centre, as the hotel is a little way out, and it was fab. i loved the feel of Santa Barbara as it had a spanish feel to it with an american smile!!
we spent our day walking up and down the prominade and looking in all the different shops and finding somewhere to eat. We had a mexican, which was delicous just wished we could have had a table outside as the queue was massive!!
We had breakfast at the little resturant next door, which was lovely and very american in tradition. worth the value.
i would have no hesitation of visiting Santa Barbara again and staying at the Pepper Tree Inn.

We visited this hotel during a round trip for 2 nights and liked it very much. The hotel looks nice (Mediterian) and is tidy, the environment is beautifull, there are 2 nice pools and above all the staff is friendly and helpfull (also a kind relative of Obama seems to works here :-) ). We also appreciated the free coffee in 5 different kinds available in the lobby all the time.
There's a large mall on the opposite site of the road and for the "experts'': a Ross store on walking distance!

We stayed here in the past two weeks at the end of a two week stay across the states. We had arranged California for the latter part of our trip for a bit of down time after NYC and Vegas. We drove from Vegas to LA and then onto Santa Barbara. The website for this hotel suggests its a beachside resort, however on arrival we were disappointed to find the hotel 2 minutes off the freeway and a good 10 minute drive from the beach and downtown.

Check in was smooth and staff were helpful and knowledgeable and gave us a good map to work our way around. The room we were given was okay but nothing to write home about. As is standard in America there were 2 four foot beds rather than a large double, this isn't ideal if your both tall like we are ( and 6 months pregnant!) Bathroom was dated but really clean. Room was a good size but a bit dark. Maid service was daily and sheets and towels changed often.

There was also a really good diner attached to the property which was handy for breakfast. There is a mall opposite that also has food outlets, also good for pool side lunchtime snacks.

As it turns out the beaches nearby didn't have many sun loungers and umbrellas so as a preggers person I wasn't allowed to burn, so we ended up coming back to hotel to use the pool area after days out! It was quiet and had lots of loungers and shade for me. It ended up being more relaxing than trying to battle to the beach.

Downtown Santa Barbara is fab and has lots of good shops and places to eat. We parked easily there and went onto the Pier to some fab places to eat with great food and sunsets. It is clearly an affluent area and a pleasure to visit.

As for the Peppertree we would recommend it but don't be fooled into the impression that it is a boutique hotel that is near to the beach. It is a classic American Best Western that does what it says on the tin. Tip for booking make sure you ask for a room that is at the back, much quieter. Free car parking was a big bonus!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, the ones by the car park and Barbers Salon are noisy!

We stopped off on our tour of California, only for one night but could happily have stayed for more. The location is very good, easily accessible from the Freeway and on the main road into the centre. Plenty of restaurants nearby and en route to downtown Santa Barbara. The room was spacious and very well equipped, with luxurious towels, robes and Crabtree and Evelyn shower gel etc. The beds were very comfortable and there was tea and coffee, water, fruit and candy provided in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool was great. Wi-fi and parking were free, all in all we had a very comfortable stay here and I would recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for four days in July. We were on a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles and had hired a red mustang convertible (big treat for us!). Besides all the nice things which other reviewers said about the nice rooms, balconies, pools etc., I would like to mention that the staff cleaned the windscreen of the car each morning so it was nice and fresh for another day's sightseeing. Now that is thoughtful.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking one of the two pools which are surrounded by a nice garden.
