Just got back from Santa Barbara. For years my wife and I have gone to Santa Barbara for a get away. We have stayed at many places. We now have found the best place to stay and will continue to stay at the
Inn by the Harbor. One of the desk clerks named Anthony is our favorite desk clerk out of any places that we have been. Thank you Anthony for making our stay a pleasure able one.

Inn by the harbour is the best place we've been to during our trip down the west coast of California. It has a great location as it is close to the beach (7 min walk and 3 min bicycling) and close to state street - the main street (10 min walk and 5 min bicycling). The rooms are nice and clean, and have aircondition. You also get free breakfast (bread, danish, cheese, eggs, fruits, yoghurt, cerials, juice and coffee) and you can borrow bicycles for free. Danish and coffee as well as limonade and biscuts and cheese are also available and free during the day. Great snack when we relaxed by the pool.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, in fact we've never experienced this kind of great service before. Everyone provided us with lots tips for things to see and do and printed out maps so it was easy to find. They also gave us great restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us when we wanted them to.

All in all we really recommend Inn by the harbour, and if we're ever back in Santa Barbara we know where to stay.

We arrived lunchtime and the Manager Anthony apologised for not having a room ready. However we we welcome to leave our car in their parking lot and he gave us directions for recommended restaurants at the harbour.

On out return a few hours later we were welcomed back by Anthony and given a room on the first floor overlooking the small pool. He recommend some local restaurants for dinner and after discussion of the options with him he kindly made a reservation for us.

When we entered the room we were pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary bottle of Californian Champagne and chocolates as our booking details included the fact that this was for our wedding anniversary. This was a very kind gesture.

They have complimentary wine and cheese at 4pm and milk and cookies at 6.

The room was small but comfortable and clean and I had the best night's sleep on our Californian road trip so far!

Breakfast was continental style in the reception and the pastries were excellent.

Once again Anthony went out of his way to help us with our onward journey to LA by giving us directions to our next hotel and printing off a route map.

We have never come across someone who has been so helpful and making sure that his guests have as pleasurable stay as possible.

10/10 and we would highly recommend Inn by the Harbor to anyone who wants to stay at Santa Barbara.

Thank you once again Anthony!

This is not a 5 or even a 4 star hotel, but it's clean, walking distance to the harbor and the beach, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. My room was well appointed, even if it was a bit dated. The best part is that it was QUIET. I like to get my sleep. The pool and hot tub is a great bonus. The wine/cheese, and hot cocoa and cookies were a great evening touch. Great spot for a couple or a small family.

Room Tip: There are no ocean-front rooms, but go to the ones on the west side. The east side rooms face the pa...

We chose this hotel as an overnight stop between Big Sur and LA

We were looking for a place just to stop for the night as we would be arriving late afternoon and leaving just after breakfast

The hotel is superbly located just off the freeway but not so close for the traffic noise to cause any problems
The room was clean and tidy and good value for money

When we arrived we were met at reception by a very friendly lady and when checking out we were seen by two guys who were extremely polite and ver helpful making our stay a great experience

To all the staff, keep up your high standards as it clearly made a big difference and was appreciated

What a wonderful gem of a place this hotel was! We were visiting from NJ and I read all of the reviews on this site, so I will try to highlight the many positives for future travelers. The rooms were impeccably clean and nicely prepared for our arrival, with an abundance of bath and shower supplies. The staff was friendly, helpful and inviting. One was nicer than the next and they all went above and beyond to see that our needs were met. Parking was free, which was definitely a nice perk. In addition, the free breakfast, 4:30 wine and cheese and 6:30 milk and cookies was a wonderful touch. We also took advantage of the free bike rentals and used them to see all of the sites in the town. Thanks to Peter, Sophia and the rest of the crew for making our visit peaceful, relaxing and unforgettable. If ever return to Santa Barbara, we will definitely be back to this hotel.

Over the years we have stayed in 3 hotels in Santa Barbara and this is the one we chose to come back too. The one on the waterfront was very expensive, the one just off State Street was too noisy but this suited us. The room was clean and comfortable although didn't really use the space well. There was a lot of unused space near the door which was odd. We are happy to walk and it was only 5 minutes to the waterfront and about 15 to State Street shops and restaurants. The location was nice and quiet and the staff very pleasant and helpful. We didn't bother with the breakfast but having coffee, tea and apples in reception all day was nice. If you a runner I recommend the nearby waterfront trail, gazing out on the Pacific was certainly an upgrade on my usual route.
