Our reservations were handled efficiently. The reception by William was warm and friendly, this has to be the star employee providing helpful information, advice and assistance to all guests.
We chose Brisas del Mar because our preferred hotel was unable to accommodate our dates. The location is not the most convenient, automobile transport (or taxi) is required to most parts. The accommodation is rather dated (why are the rooms so dark?), comfortable but a little cramped and, as far a one could see, clean. There are some nice touches of inn hospitality offered. Probably would not return.

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of a driving tour. The hotel is in a good spot to walk down to the sea front and pier as well as the main street for shops and restaurants.

The hotel is an unusual design; it is set out in a courtyard shape with the majority of the rooms upstairs with free parking beneath. Our room was a decent size with a small dressing room between the bedroom and the very small bathroom. It would make more sense to extend the bathroom in to the dressing room which was really a bit of a waste of space, but I suppose it was a good place to store bags.

The room was nicely decorated with a large comfortable bed, coffee making facilities and a huge TV. The room had a DVD player and a large library of DVD’s were available to borrow from reception. Complimentary Wi-Fi was also available in the rooms.

The hotel has a nice pool and hot tub, there wasn’t much room to sit around the pool however, I imagine that the owner will be looking to extend the patio area in the future.

A really nice touch is the complimentary cheese and wine available in the late afternoon, there are also cookies and milk available in the evening. Complimentary coffee and tea is available all day in reception. The hotel also places a complimentary bottle of Californian champagne in your room on arrival.

The hotel has bikes that the guests can use, unfortunately we didn’t get chance to make use of them.

The only thing I would say to the reception staff is; if a customer arrives early, check to see if their room is ready before you tell them that they are too early. When we arrive early, we know that we are early. If the room isn’t ready that isn’t a problem, I’ll come back in a while, but why get my back up (a bit) before then telling me that the room is ready? Apart from this very small thing, all the reception staff were great, very friendly and helpful giving us directions and suggestions on restaurants.

Overall this is a nice hotel to stay in; I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future. This was our first visit to Santa Barbara which is a very nice city. Everywhere is clean and tidy and enjoyable to walk about. The only pointer I would give is that we found the restaurants shut pretty early during the week, so don’t eat too much of the cheese if you are planning on going out to dinner :).

Lilly was working the evening we decided to stay at this hotel. She was so pleasant when I called and I got a good last minute deal here.

Great rate, good location. Free bikes for hotel guests to use. Short walk or bike ride to the beach. We enjoyed the free Wine and cheese, milk and cookies in the evening and a nice continental breakfast in the morning. Free DVD's for your use pick out at the front desk and take to your room. Our room was neat, clean and spacious. We were thrilled with this hotel and the excellent service. I would definitely come back here if I were to visit California again. Actually give this place 5 stars for customer service. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Again, kudos to Lilly a real asset to your establishment.

So I originally wrote a review exactly 2 years ago. As we where on the same road trip down the California coast it was time to decide where in Santa Barbara we would stay. My wife wanted to go back to this hotel but as per my previous review I felt it was expensive.
Anyway, after researching several accommodations in the area and comparing them it appears that SB is an expensive area to visit. Comparing the extras you get at the Brisas like free parking, use of bikes and wireless along with breakfast bought it home to me that this is value for money.
We stayed in exactly the same room as 2 years ago which had been decorated nicely in lighter colours.
There was plenty to eat at breakfast time, and always hot and cold drinks available along with pastries in the reception area throughout the day.Of an afternoon/evening there were cheese and wine or cookie and milk available.
In short I would well recommend to stay here.Comfortable ,and very friendly helpfull staff.
Ps. Ensure you take the bikes out for a ride along the beach front bike path, enjoyable for all ages...

We were only able to stay here for one night due to our tight itinerary but we were delighted with our stay at this friendly hotel. Located a couple of blocks from the sea front, the hotel is built kind of motel style but with a reception area where breakfast (plus more food) is served during the day. The room was large and had all the facilities you would expect - not particularly modern, but clean and spacious with a good bathroom. What it lacks in superficial style, it more than makes up for in friendly, efficient service and the multitude of extras provided - bicycle hire, free dvd library, welcome bottle of sparkling wine, free parking on site and a much better than expected breakfast (which we were able to enjoy sitting outside in the sun), milk and (really delicious) cookies in the early evening and a wine hour that we sadly just missed.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely make this our destination to return to if we are so fortunate to have some time in Santa Barbara again.

This hotel is situated 5 mins walk from the beach and 5 mins walk from the main shopping area of State Street. The journey is even quicker if you borrow one of their free bicycles.
The accommodation is very well appointed. I stayed in apt 6, which had a huge open plan kitchen, dining room and living area leading out to a patio. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath too. There was also direct access to the outdoor pool.
The daily complimentary wine & cheese and (later on) milk & cookies is a great way to chat to staff to get their recommendations on where to go, as well as meet fellow guests.

Excellent value for money, good location. Freebies galore! Wine and cheese in the afternoon, milk and cookies in the evening and a brilliant continental breakfast available in the morning. Free sparkling wine in the fridge of our room, free wifi and DVD's to rent. Our room was a good size and was quiet. (Room 4) would definitely come back here. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
