“Fess Parker is overrated”

Fess Parker, while a great actor and having a great location is a subpar hotel. It right across from the beach and has a nice pool, but the rooms are more consistent with a Motel 6 than an exquisite hotel. You are better off going up the street to the Four Seasons unless you can't go without the warm cookies that they fool you with upon check-in.

We stayed at this Hotel over the Memorial day weekend 3 days 2 nights. On the positive side the hotel grounds were well groomed, clean and lush. The pool area was equally beautiful and the pool was kept clean even with the large number of people. However this is where the positive experience ends. The room was a "garden view" which in reality was only the grass area between the rooms. The room was equal in decor to a typical Holiday-inn express. There was no microwave and not much in the way of a refrigerator because it was stocked with very costly refreshments including a $7 bottle of water! The Parking was very costly at ~$20 a night self service. @$440 a night I wouldn't expect to pay daily for parking. A 5 day stay would cost you $100 just to park your car! While we stayed in the pool we purchased two 6oz cups of diet coke and were charged $10+tip! We checked several other Hotels in the area and although they are smaller they offered more ammonites at a quarter the cost.

Room Tip: I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone, but if you must, call to make your reservation and...

I had read reviews on this site and wasn't sure what to expect, as they are very mixed. We were desperate and last minute on making a reservation and this was one of the last rooms available in the town this memorial weekend, so we took our chance and booked a 470.00 night mountain view, king Bed for Saturday night. We were shocked when we pulled in at just how nice the property was, and even more shocked at our third floor room. It was beautiful. I felt the price was a little high for the location across from the water and over a highway, but would stay there again in a heartbeat. The staff go out of the way to make sure and meet all your needs.

Room Tip: We had a mountain view and it was very nice.

Wish I could say something good. So disappointed. The hotel has lost it's appeal. Yes, the location is fabulous. Gorgeous beach front resort. But once inside, the staff forgets their responsibilities. Check in was delayed 45 minutes. After traveling from east coast all day only to find out our suite at $500+ per night was not ready and this would delay our dinner appointment. In room dining screwed up our breakfast order 3 days in a row. The location/building of our room was not what I requested. Overall, my husband and I had a wonderful time. Hotel, not so good.

The rooms were newly renovated, but the overall property still struck me as dated. Oddly enough, the valet service was the best part of my stay. One of the valets in particular called me by name every time I walked through the valet drive and was very engaging. I was a bit annoyed at the fact that when I went on Saturday afternoon to the front desk to ask for a late checkout on Sunday due to a board meeting, the staff person was not particularly friendly and was dismissive. She curtly told me that I would just have to call them on Sunday morning to make that request. While that may or may not have been true, I could have been treated better. A three day stay should afford me some accommodation.

The staff was excellent from check in to valet parking (Dave was ultraq friendly in assisting our group and remembered us by name). The beds were just right but the pillows could have been softer. Ours had a ocean front view but it would have been better from a second or third level as the sidewalk and cars partially obstructed the view. We were able to walk to the pier and harbor and it was a short drive to State Street.

The hotel and its grounds are fantastic. The location can't be beat. The food I had at the conference I attended there was just ok but that criticism may more properly be leveled at the conference. I did have to call the front desk to report a problem with my TV and was put on hold for an extended period of time.
