My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in early April. Everything about the hotel was a delight. The staff at check-in was very welcoming and helpful; our room, which faced ocean, was large and comfortable; the pool, with a small on-site food and drink space, was relaxing and well-taken care of. My only issue was that our room was made up late in the afternoon, so it wasn't as pleasant to be there during the day. A nice thing is that the hotel is on the edge of State Street, Santa Barbara's main street, with hundreds of stores and restaurants of all types, and just across from the city pier where you can enjoy a pleasant walk. The hotel also has a restaurant, Eladio's, which was pretty good and reasonably priced for breakfast. We didn't eat other meals there, so I can't comment on their quality. One other nearby restaurant we did have breakfast at, Sambo's on Cabrillo Blvd, is convenient, but I'd have to classify it as a "greasy spoon" with mediocre food. We did, however, have great dinners at Olio Pizzeria (a popular local spot) and Trattoria Vittoria, though our best dinner by far was at the Stonehouse Restaurant at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara. It's a ways from the hotel, but the reward is great. The Ranch's grounds are beautiful (we sat outside and drank wine for a while before going to dinner) and the restaurant's service and food are top notch. The only caution: it is pretty pricey, so be prepared.

Room Tip: The hotel covers quite a lot of space on the corner of Cabrillo and State Streets. Rooms facing Cabr...

We stayed here for my 40th birthday in February for 2 nights.

My husband had contacted the hotel before we had left the UK and they were very kind I believe in assisting him with obtaining a birthday cake. The hotel also very kindly gave us a lovely room and left a bottle of wine for me as well which I really did apprecaite.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was just amazing. The hotel itself is just on the beach but the rooms were very quiet.

We ate at the resturant next door on both nights and the food was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful.

I really loved this hotel and hope to one day come back for a longer visit.

Stayed here from March 9th until March 15th 2014. Nice spacious rooms, brilliant location - close to the beach and less than five mins walk to the beginning of the main part of State St. so it benefits from being central, but also nice and quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool or ocean view

This is a four star hotel that is right on the intersection of the main shopping street and the palm lined beachfront. It is only a short walk to the Downtown and Beach shuttle that runs every 15 minutes. The room is nicely appointed and the staff is professional, friendly and accommodating. It is great to be right across the street from a palm lined walking and biking trail. A lot of effort has been made by the city to design and maintain a very attractive city. Besides high quality shopping there are many good restaurants to choose from.

Room Tip: Book early.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights in early March as part of a family vacation to Southern California. The hotel is well-situated near the Pier, walking paths, and State Street. The hotel itself is older but well-kept. Check-in was efficient, and the bellman was helpful. Parking was on-site, covered and well-priced.

Our room was a 2-room suite on the third floor with a mountain view. It was nice having 2 rooms, and I always appreciate complimentary coffee and tea in the room. We had a balcony with two chairs which was a great place to enjoy our coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. The bathroom was an excellent size with double sinks and a large tub which made bathing our infant very easy. We had one issue with the plumbing, but the repairman solved the problem fairly quickly.

We enjoyed the pool but wish the poolside cafe would have been open. The gym was small but adequate. The spa is small and very basic, but my hourlong massage was excellent.

My only issue with this hotel came at checkout. When we reviewed the itemized copy of the bill, there was an incorrect charge listed. Instead of immediately removing the charge, the hotel staff spent twenty minutes looking into it before deciding that they could not remove it and would have to call us later. They did call about six hours later stating that they would credit us the amount that was incorrectly charged; however, I felt that this incident should have been rectified immediately upon checkout. Overall, we had a nice trip but this left me with a less than stellar impression.

Room Tip: I would choose a room on a high floor and overlooking the ocean.

I stayed in this hotel during a conference that was held at the University of Santa Barbara.
not very close to the university (you need a car!!) but the hotel location definitely worth it! :)
Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff.
Absolutely recommended!!

This excellent Inn is located across the road from harbour and beach, and a bike path/walkway that stretches end to end of Santa Barbara. The landscaping is beautiful -- full of flowers to satiate visitors from cold climates. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable, the service excellent. I received a bottle of sparkling wine for a birthday surprise! The adjacent restaurant is great for breakfast -- with huevos rancheros and friendly service. Also great coffee. This is the place to park for a visit to the wine country, and for kayaking by the Channel Islands.

Room Tip: It's not necessary to pay a higher price for a harbor view. There are views all around.
