“Near the heart of the Silicone Valley”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Santa Clara mission is unique. It's on the grounds of Santa Clara University, is one of the few named for a woman, the church is in its 7th iteration (moved several times and burned down in the 1920s) and is a peaceful place in the middle of the hustle-and-bustle of the heat of the tech universe.

Martín and I visited on a Thursday and there were few people there. We had it to ourselves and enjoyed the peacefulness as we enjoyed the shrines and altars there.

One of the other neat things here is that it contains a relic of Father Serra, one of the very few we've discovered on our Missions tour.

“Mission Santa Clara”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

Although it is built on the site of the original mission, there is little to evoke the mission days. Reconstructed to accommodate a larger audience, it is really just another nice college church. The Santa Clara campus is lovely.

“Santa Clara University Campus and mission”

This is a beautiful campus and a great walk I've always enjoyed. The mission church is a special trip back in history in the middle of the campus.

“My Favorite Mission”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

My favorite Mission is the Santa Clara. Even though some are clearly more bonita and in quieter locations I get to go this one since its so close. Plus the Santa Clara University is a neat little campus to walk around and free parking.

“Mission Santa Clara”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

Beautifully restored church is used as a parish and is located on the campus of the University of Santa Clara. It is maintained in wonderful condition and the artwork inside the church is remarkable for beauty and history. Surrounding gardens are also lovely.
