Our Lady of Peace Church
Reviewed 19 February 2013

Difficult to write about a place dedicated to Our Lady of Peace as the title tells it all, this is a shrine which if one is in the area deserves to be visited, it could also serve as a destination visit from afar.

Whenever I am in the Santa Clara area, I love to stop by and visit this parish. This 'Metal Mary' leaves me feeling serene and watched over...

Beautiful, well kept grounds. Lovely stop.

Peaceful place if you want to be alone and meditate for stress release. A walk around the ground is nice as well.

Last I checked, Christians aren't supposed to have "graven images" or "idols" -- this 32' tall statue to Mary might as well be to Athena or Isis or Freya! That it's overlooking the freeway just makes it even more creepy. Don't start me about "gift shops" on church grounds...or is it that just money changers aren't allowed? Sheesh! Someone needs to read their Bible again instead of using as a tool for repressive veneration and social conformity! Church services might as well be taking place in the 60s, given how old fashion they are...

This is an outdoor visit any time thing. Saint Clare is beautiful and stands over a large field of manicured green grass. Be sure to offer your prayers and walk around the greens to each of the prayer stops to admire the carved panels. If you go on a sunny day, the sun shines off her and looks ethereal.
