Vicky at the front desk was awesome! Super friendly and worked with me for a great price! Will be back! Clean spacious rooms, good WiFi, plenty of parking. Convenient location near lots of restaurants.

I really do enjoy the cleanliness of the rooms. The price of it is to much for me but is worth it. Another thing is that for the price of staying one night you should at least get to enjoy a well deserved breakfast.

Reviewed 29 March 2014

Stayed for 4 days in March, 2014. Based on reviews swinging from one extreme to another, I wanted to write something hopefully more objective and realistic. Based on what I read I was expecting it to be in a bad neighborhood or something -- it's not. Actually the location is quite good, without a lot of road or airplane noise. Note that with only a Chili's across the street you will have to drive if you want something other than Asian food to eat. As I sat out at the pool one afternoon (outdoor and unheated) it was obvious that the staff were taking care of the place. I saw them taking out all the sliding windows and cleaning them room by room on one day.

Speaking of windows, while the hotel looks good with a fresh coat of paint, there are a few things that give it a dated appearance. The windows are the old style aluminum frame from years gone by. Also the television was an old 20-something inch CRT, not an LCD. I noticed a couple of mallard ducks in the pool one day. I asked the staff about it and they said they were trying to discourage them, and had even called the SPCA, all with no luck. I would also say that the breakfast was quite disappointing unless all you want is boxed cereal or oatmeal. They did have coffee and orange juice, but the bread for the toast was barely real and what I would call 'balloon bread.' These are relatively minor things that did not negatively impact my stay.

The king size bed was very good and I slept very well. The rooms are not large, and I would think more than 2 people would definitely be a crowd. The parking is good and not too dark or unsafe. There were several guests that arrived after 10 p.m. but this wasn't a problem. I did notice the staff patrol the parking lot once or twice during the later evening hours.

Make no mistake. This is no Hilton. But for the price and location it's hard to beat. The front desk was always courteous and it's obvious that they are making an effort to take care of the property. I travel a lot, and if I am in the area I would have no hesitation about staying here again.

Room Tip: Ice machine is on the second floor in the middle.

The room was very nice and clean. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Great extras: use of gym, pool, continental breakfast.
The handyman came to show me how to set the alarm clock. The TV had closed captioning. I asked him if he could remove that. He tried and tried. I could tell he really wanted to fix it but it would not be fixed. He was very helpful. Near many noisy streets but I couldn't hear much. A great deal for the price !!!

I stayed at Vagabond, Santa Clara for almost 4 weeks straight and this place is excellent and offers very great value for money. The room was clean and the furniture inside were classy. Although from outside it looks that attractive, once inside the room it was comfortable and cozy. The staff was very friendly and especially RJ was exceptionally friendly and courteous. I would definitely stay here on my next visit and highly recommend it to anyone.

One minor issues:
- I wish there was an exhaust fan in the toilet instead of a window

Other than that, this place rocks!
