We reserved 3 Tower Suites for our family for 2 nights for college graduation weekend. The rooms had been recently redone with wonderful touches and artwork with the most comfortable beds in the world! The rooms have a private balcony that look right out to the beach and ocean and the Boardwalk is a short walk away. Everyone at the hotel from the front desk, room service, housekeeping and the valet/baggage handlers went the extra mile for us and were so friendly and helpful. The food both in the Aquarius restaurant on site and room service was delicious! We will definitely stay there again!

Really enjoyed our beach vacation at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. We stayed in a suite on the 5th floor, which was a great deal. The decor was retro and fun, and seemed recently updated. The beds were uber-comfy. The pool was inviting and it was easy to get to the beach. But I would have to say that it was the staff that really made the trip great. The front desk was very welcoming. The pool staff was really friendly. Our last day we asked for a late check out and they were so accommodating. Looking forward to going back soon!

The "Dream Inn" is a Santa Cruz landmark and deserved to be refurbished which it has been during the last year. It is a lovely place to stay and there is a beautiful setting. Every room has a balcony and an ocean/bay view with the Santa Cruz pier and boardwalk right next door. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. The one down side is the parking for guests used to be free in their own lot but now there is a steep charge. Parking lot was just half full during our stay.

My husband and I did a getaway in Santa Cruz and stayed at the Dream Inn for the weekend. The rooms are cozy, but have nice amenities and we had a balcony with an ocean/pier view. The beach is very nice, and the service at the front desk was top notch. There is no fitness center, but it is right on the path where you can take a nice long jog or walk along the ocean, which I prefer over the typical confined fitness rooms a typical hotel has to offer. It's one of the more expensive places in town but well worth the price for the location and quality. Just make sure they don't try to give you the first room off of the lobby - noisy. We switched and got a room on the third floor which was very nice and quiet.

Room Tip: Don't take the first room off of the lobby.

My husband and I added a couple of days onto a business trip to San Francisco to come down to Santa Cruz. We stayed here mid-week in May, off season. We joined the Joie de Vivre club before booking. We were upgraded to a Cloud King room when we arrived, which was very nice.

We enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Our room was on the 10th floor so we had a great view. We liked the decor and found the room very bright, easy to work in (great desk, decent internet connection), great shower, very comfortable bed, very clean room. The restaurant (Aquarius) was also very good. Nice touch, very creative, white cloud dessert of white cotton candy. The wait staff was great and the food was good. The grounds are also nicely kept.

We liked that we were right on the beach. The property is adjacent to the wharf so we didn't use our car at all during our stay. Lots of restaurants on the wharf and a family of sea lions. We had breakfast there in a very deligthful place at the end of the wharf.

I had two negatives. The first was a parking fee, which I always find irritating at a hotel. Why not just offer a discount to folks who don't have a car? It's such a small place that really valet parking is not needed.

The other negative I had is that the front desk staff were not particularly friendly, with a major exception of the guy who checked us in. He was terrific. The others we saw during our stay had kind of a "take it or leave it" attitude, not unfriendly but not warm and welcoming or even a pretend "we're happy you're here." It was a big contrast with the staff at the restaurant, the housekeeper who took care of our room and even the gardener - who all greeted us warmly.

We'd come back without hesitation.

Room Tip: Join the Joie de Vivre loyalty club.

Dream Inn is a great play to stay in Santa Cruz. It is quite pricey but is a class apart from everything else in Santa Cruz. Courteous staff, great modern decor and a terrific view from the balcony of the beach and boardwalk. We didn't get time to use all the facilities such as the pool, but the room was great and we enjoyed some terrific mojitos in the bar in the evening overlooking the beach :)
