“Wedding Reception and Wedding night stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2012

We had our wedding at the Dream Inn and Aurora Smith was the whole reason we decided to have it there. She was very helpful and went above an beyond her job to help us. She knew we were on a tight budget and worked hard to get us what we wanted within it. She even helped me plan my ceremony that was on the beach behind the hotel. The whole staff Mary included was really awesome. The honey moon suite was awesome with a beautiful view and rose petals. They left us complementary cheese cake champagne and notes. The food and bartender at our reception far exceeded our expectations :) !! Also the breakfast room service, the next morning was really good. They even let us have a late check out. Everyone had a great time and we were stress free. I couldn't have asked for a better place to have our wedding !!!!

Room Tip: book your room in the tower it's very quiet and you can hear the ocean.

I switched to this hotel after spending one night in a not so great place down the street from it. I was doing the Big Kahuna triathlon in Santa Cruz and my husband was able to check into the room while I was racing. When I got to the room (they gave us a first floor which was great since I didn't have to lug my bike around) I swear I heard angels singing . The rooms are AMAZING at this hotel: spacious, modern decor, HUGE bathroom, and wonderful ocean view balcony. This hotel probably ranks in my top 5. The restaurant attached to it has a great happy hour and breakfast was pretty tasty. it's right on Cowell's Beach which is mostly swimmers and surfers, all the business is on the other side of the wharf which made it a nice tranquil night. LOVE THE DREAM INN! I hope to stay again and have more time to enjoy the hotel and pool.

The Dream Inn is a beachfront hotel in Santa Cruz. We stayed on a Saturday night so expect more expensive rates. Our room was about 400 dollars for the night. The room is actually quite nice and with a lovely view it makes the stay quite worthwhile. It would have been nice to stay a couple of extra days. The bed is large and comfy. The mini fridge was pretty poor and not really worth cooling anything. The shower large and the furnishings bright and fresh. The building is dated, but you can look past it. The car park across the road was okay, albeit open air parking and fairly public so not really security patrolled. A midday check out was welcomed.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room if possible and away from the pool, it looks loud and trashy.

We wish you could have stayed a couple extra days to enjoy your comfortable room and the wonderful view! Rates do vary according to season, so please check back with us. Saturdays are always popular with high demand; however Sunday through Thursday rates from September through May are great times to visit and to take advantage of the many special discounted rates we offer.

We spent the weekend at the Dream Inn. The decor is funky, fun - maybe not to everyone's taste. But it makes it easy to forget that this hotel has been there since at least the 60's - maybe before? Incredibly comfortable bed, awesome view from the 10th floor. Had an on going issue with the bathroom fan - wouldn't turn off, they would turn it off, it would randomly turn back on. Comped us a night of parking for the hassle (parking whether valet or self is the same price). Would like to have had the problem solved - or at least explained as to why it kept happening (the front desk had a variety of theories). We had a Cloud room. A word of warning to those considering a poolside room - no privacy. Your patio is not enclosed (there is a fence in front of you, but people can still walk there). The ramp up from the pool comes up at about 3 rooms over from the entrance - so no choice but to walk thru the patios to get out. the pool area is also very loud. Overall the view and the location were worth it.

Close to all. No problem to walk to downtown Santa Cruz, hotel on the beach, wharf next door and Boardwalk up the block. Short drive to UCSC. Valet service is very prompt in retrieving car at any hour.

Room Tip: All rooms face water. Higher priced rooms are on the higher floors, but not really necessary.

Next to the pier with sea lions is the Dream Inn. Pool and Jacuzi with view on the beach and on the other side than the Santa cruz coast with it's rollercoasters. Rooms are modern equiped, even with free coffee machine in every room. Can't complain.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your recommendation. All of our guest rooms do offer ipod docking stations, flat panel televisions, Keurig coffeemakers, complimentary wireless internet, in room movies, and comfortable accommodations. Together with an ocean view private balcony….we think it’s great too!

The hotel is wonderfully refreshing. Retro style, clean, comfy and fun. My first indication that this place was special was that our 2 year old said "this place is WEIRD!" when we walked in! (He's been a chain hotel guy thus far!) The pool was great for our 10month old and 2 year old, even on a cool fall evening. The pool was around 85F. The views are incredible and you can't beat the location. The casual surf vibe of Santa Cruz carried over to the staff at the hotel. They are friendly, efficient, and competent. We loved our room and our patio so much that we ordered room service, and the food was great. We will make this a destination hotel in the future.

Room Tip: poolside is great, pool is open until 11pm but was not loud at all.

Dear Guest,

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We always keep the pool temperature nice and warm, and even offer a Jacuzzi hot tub for those that enjoy it even warmer. It is so fun to be swimming with a view of the ocean right in front of you! It is hard to beat alfresco dining on your guestroom balcony; I am so glad that you were able to experience this. Did you know - the local slogan for the city is "Keep Santa Cruz Weird" - your 2 year old might be on to something there?!
