Clean, comfortable well-appointed room for only $75 a night. Beautiful grounds and garden around the pool. Has an old-school supper club/resort vibe. Slept well, comfortable bed, decent continental breakfast including hard-boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, and yogurt. Great location for getting around Santa Cruz. Didn't eat at the restaurant, but it had a large menu that was all available for room service as well.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool/facing away from the road are quieter and have a nicer view.

There's no interior hallways here, so this is really a motel, not a hotel nor an inn. However, the rooms are large and clean and the bed comfortable. There was also a fridge. Large walk-in shower in the bathroom. Nice toiletries too.

There's no air conditioning but the overhead fan was adequate for the end of September; in the summer months, it might not be so comfortable.

A bit rough at the edges -- there were a couple of small holes in the bathroom wall around the showerhead, but it didn't detract from the stay.

Continental breakfast was adequate.

I stayed at the Pasatiempo from July 7 through the 26 2011. It was a very welcoming experience. The room was large and clean. The large bed was very comfortable and had thick cotton beautifly laundered sheets. The immaculately clean large shower had very hot water; it was a treat to shower and dry with the also very clean and thick towels. Included in the bathroom was an assortment of body wash shampoo and soaps. A large ceiling fan that could be put on low, aired the room quietly. I could not be more pleased with the staff: Molly and Adelle at the front desk in the day time, and Peggy and Mariana early in the mornings were all very helpful and accommodating. Antonia who cleaned my room in a quiet diplomatic and thorough way was comforting. I never had to worry about getting my room cleaned or having fresh towels.
A pleaseant swim early in the cool mornings in the heated pool surrounded by their beautiful garden added to my relaxing experience at The Pasatiempo.
My extended stay in Santa Cruz concerned my visit to my brother who was ill. So the importance of a peaceful and relaxing place was important to me. I am forever grateful for the welcoming staff which made me feel at home during my stay.
To eat simple home cooked fare Mollie's Country Cafe up a couple of minutes on highway 17 in Scotts Valley was a blessing. And finally, if you arrive at the San Jose's airport like I did, you can use public transportation. Take the #10 that goes around the airport to the Light Rail Metro station. Take the light rail towards downtown San Jose. Get off at the Santa Clara Station and connect around the corner to the Highway 17 bus. It leaves you in front of the Passatiempo. Very convenient and inexpensive if you travel light. Check at SCMTD.COM for bus schedules . And the vta.org for light rail schedules

Room Tip: Stay on the garden side. They have a beautiful grand peaceful garden. I stayed by the ice machine en...

My girlfriend and I came up once and had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, we didn't stay over night this time around... Instead we stayed at the Holiday Inn at Santa Cruz and paid an over price small room during labor day weekend. We came to the Peachwood Rest. by accident and had the best ribs I've ever had, as we finished dinner we walked around the inn and just fell in love with the landscape of the hotel! We decied we go next year and stay at this Inn instead, which we did! This year we had a wonderful dinner, bigger room, and a cheaper price than we paid for the previous year - worth every penny for a holiday weekend!!

Decent location but for heaven's sake turn the Inn at Pasatiempo sign to face the entrance! Comfortable bed. Probably won't stay here again.

We were looking for a place to stay, not far from Carmel. We were happy to find this Inn at a reasonable price. Location is perfect, close to Route 17 and 1. We stayed for 2 nights. The room was clean and service was excellent. Rooms seem to be remodeled. No air conditioning, only a fan. It was fine overnight as we were out all day. The fridge was making noise all night long. Breakfast is continental and nothing much to talk about. They had a dozen wall clocks in the dining room, very interesting stuff. They have a lawn in the back where weddings are held. Overall, an adequate place for a short stay.
