Owner description: Come for the wine...stay for the Aloha! Is it possible to make the intangible, tangible? To define love, or to capture the feeling of a sunset? That's the challenge when it comes to MJA. It's not just a destination, it's an experience that goes beyond the wine, mixed with the aroma of chocolate & Kona Coffee, the setting and the people... It's the Aloha! Actually, we handcraft around 8000 cases of our Aloha each year, right in our Westside Cellar in Santa Cruz. We sell our wines directly from our Tasting Rooms because our philosophy is that we want you to be able to buy the highest quality wine that we can produce at the best value possible. That's why we offer everyday specials such as "take 4 bottles for the price of 3", and 20% off everyday for our Kahuna Wine Club Members, and 30% off on club pickup days. And our 100% Kona Coffee that Marin (he's the MJA) grows on the Big Island of Hawaii, was voted as America's Best Coffee by Forbes Magazine. It too is only available at MJA of course! We roast it fresh each week at our Summit-Los Gatos Tasting Room & Vineyards. Come on up any Tuesday afternoon, grab a glass of wine and see how we do it. We're also open 7 days a week, so you can come any day and sink into our overstuffed chairs by the fire or watch the wildlife on our wooded patio...a perfect getaway right in your backyard! Or if flip flops, a hoodie and some great story telling is more your style, our Westside-Santa Cruz Tasting Room & Cellar is in the hip industrial portion of town, a few blocks from the Natural Bridges Beach with outdoor fire pits and comfy chairs on the lanai. A perfect pairing with the ocean breeze, a bottle of our handcrafted wines and a bag of Marin's fresh roasted Kona Coffee to go. Who needs Napa? Escape to MJA!

We dropped into this wine tasting room by accident and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines. Very good selection of wines and excellent atmosphere.

“Wine, Coffee and Aloha”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

We live in town and some friends encouraged us to taste here. We picked up lunch at New Leaf next door and sat outside in comfy chairs. The owner, Marin, poured and personally brought each tasting out to us. He engaged conversation and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. What we thought would be a half an hour turned into three hours, membership and eager anticipation of movie night. This is an excellent, unique to Santa Cruz tasting experience, not to be missed!

“Wine and Fun on a Sunday Afternoon”
Reviewed 24 June 2013 via mobile

My husband found this wine tasting here on Trip Advisor. We chose MJA based on the excellent reviews and we were not disappointed.

We only planned to taste. We had such fun and enjoyed the variety of tastings offered. We bought several bottles of wine----and will be placing them in the recommended wine skins for the flight home.

A definite "must" for wine drinkers visiting Santa Cruz. You won't be disappointed.

“Wine & Ohana spirit”
Reviewed 29 May 2013 via mobile

This is an excellent stop for wineo's visiting Santa Cruz. Open every day at both locations (Ingalls Street & Summit Road) you will get the opportunity to taste truely exceptional wines, meet interesting locals and experience a true Aloha vibe. As an added bonus the owner, Marin, roasts an outstanding award winning true Kona coffee grown on his plantation in Hawaii.

“Our only wine tasting in Santa Cruz”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

We had intended to make the rounds and try several of the tasting rooms in Santa Cruz, but we started and ended here. The wine was so good, the experience was so much fun and we had had our fill of wine (plus three bottles to take with us) that we called it a day. The hostess taught us a lot and poured generous tastings. We tried two flights for four people, but the tasting fee was waived since we bought several bottles. Highly recommended!
