This hotel was located directly across the street from the beach and the Santa Cruz Board Walk. The location was perfect for our short 3-day Santa Cruz family vacation visit; we never used our car.

the hotel is older but it was clean and quiet. the staff was friendly and helpful. the free breakfast was limited but it was fresh.

we would definitely stay here again. We had had no problems and the location was just perfect for walking to the pier, the trolly stop, the beach, restaurants, and The Boardwalk.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd floor room. our room was on the 1st floor & the ceiling creaked a bit when the gues...

We stayed here so we wouldn't have to drive home after a wedding we went to at Cocoanut Grove across the street.
The price was great for Santa Cruz in the summer, so we took a chance.
The room was decent and it looked like the bathroom had been recently remodeled. It was a bit musty smelling in the room, but when you're this close to the beach, you have to expect that. The bed was a bit hard the pillows were not that soft either, but it could have been way worse. The free breakfast could have been better (just 2 different types of cereal, bread or english muffins with butter only and bagged pastries and fruit) but again, we didn't expect a grand buffet for what we paid. If you want great food, go to the Picnic Basket just down the street!
Anyway, we'd stay here again. It was good enough for a night.

Price was perfect, not like some of the other overpriced places we looked at, location superb, right across from the Beach and Boardwalk. Staff was the best ever, super friendly and helpful. Special thanks to manager Jeff who brightened our mornings with fresh coffee and cheerfulness. Breakfest was good enough to get you started for the day, fresh fruit, toast, english muffins, cereal, and the coffee, yum!

The only thing this place has going for it is the location. Other than that, it is over priced with the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. The beds are rock hard and feel as if they have not been replaced since the place first opened. The decor gives off the same feel. The walls are so thin you that when the people a above you walk, it literally sounds as though the ceiling is caving in. I felt awful going upstairs to ask the people upstairs to walk softly because the building is so old I couldn't sleep when they walked normally. Continental breakfast consists of dry cereal, oatmeal, and pastries. The pool is filled with sand (to be expected with the location I guess?) but also contained an empty bottle of some kind of alcohol and a beer can. Great for the kids that were swimming in it. Jeff was not nearly as friendly and accommodating as I have read others say him to be. I am a very outgoing friendly person, so this was very disappointing. Also saw someone getting arrested right in front of the hotel as we were leaving. Very classy.

The location of this place is great. It is right across the street from the boardwalk and reasonably priced.
The rooms need updating- the bathrooms have been remodeled, but the rest of the room needs it too.
There is only one lock on the door, no chain or top lock which I was disturbed by. My two year old could open the door with ease, so a chair was promptly used as a barrier...
My husband was told rather rudely at check in to make sure the car was out of the 'lot' by 11am because they were booked solid. Understandable, but the delivery was lacking.
The walls in this place are THIN. You can hear every footstep, voice, and door shut that is anywhere near your room. This made for a very long night with little sleep.
I think my worst dislike was that our neighbors were smoking weed in the bathroom and blowing into the vent which went straight into our bathroom vent, and who knows how many others.
We won't be back.

We booked a room at this hotel after looking at the pictures on tripadvisor for $224.00 for one night. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach boardwalk area. The room smelled and looked dirty, the windows had handprints all over them, the bed had hair in it and a plastic mattress cover that was noisy and full of stains. the carpeting looked and felt dirty, the bathroom sink is next to the door and not in the bathroom, This place is a expensive dirty old motel. The breakfast consisted of few items that looked stale. We used to visit santa cruz 2-3 times a year, but this area is full of homeless people and druggies now asking you for money, I did not feel safe there. If you do go dont stay at this hotel. Overpriced and undercleaned.

Room Tip: Room 202 has a great oceanview
