The inn has a wonderful, peaceful ambiance and feels like a secluded retreat inside the city. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts and wine and cheese hour are nicely done. The room was so warm and inviting, and the small touches from housekeeping make it feel like your coming home after a day venturing out in Santa Cruz. Great stay!

This was a real gem that we just stumbled across whilst looking for a one night stop over in Santa Cruz. It was so welcoming and the rooms are little wooden houses scattered around the gardens. It's just paradise. The breakfast was fantastic and the fire was roaring in the lounge. All just lovely. Each room has a patio area where you can take your breakfast if you wish or you can sit in any of the garden areas. It's just a short hop to all the restaurants and the beach but tucked away for a bit of paradise. And you can make your own cup of tea in reception whenever you want - this was my first decent cup of tea since leaving England!

The setting of the Babbling Brook is beautiful and relaxing. The grounds are so lovely and well maintained and do a great job of masking the busy street where the Inn is located. It is also well situated to whatever you may want to do in Santa Cruz including walking distance to downtown. Our room was beautiful so even though it was small we didn't feel cramped. If the weather had been better we could have gone out on our small deck that included the water wheel and the lovely sound of running water. The breakfast was good but not outstanding and is served in a very pretty room. We stayed three nights and encountered three different people on the front desk. One was very friendly and helpful, one was helpful but not very friendly and one was surly. We would stay again.

The Babbling Brook Inn is infused with an ambiance of peaceful serenity. Its grounds are lush with of foliage, giving it a distinct sense of seclusion. We stayed in a room called the Contessa, which featured two large feather beds, and a cozy gas fireplace that was flanked on either side by shelves that held am impressive array of books. Sam, our gracious concierge, greeted us with delicious homemade cookies at check in, and we found Sweet Dreams chocolates resting on soft throws on our beds. Each evening, we were invited to enjoy to self-serve wine and ample assorted hors d'oeuvres in the parlor, where the hearth seemed always to be aglow. The breakfasts were delectable and filling. One morning, Sam served us generous portions of quiche, the next morning we woke up to perfect waffles, and both were beautifully presented. Self serve fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, orange juice, cereals, and etc., rounded out our morning meals. We spent much of our time there playing games in the living room, conversing with other guests, reading and relaxing, with occasional excursions into downtown Santa Cruz. All in all, we could not have picked a better inn for our family getaway.

We chose this hotel online at the last minute, and we were very pleasantly surprised. Smart and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Very nice rooms. Near everything in Santa Cruz city, but calm and cool surroundings. The "babbling brook" is not just the name!

Room tip: Both rooms that we had were beautiful and spacious.
