A group of us had ridden our bikes from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on our way to Los Angeles for the AIDS Lifecycle. We had out of town friends who were joining us in Santa Cruz and I wanted something really good, without being to fussy. We were very casually dressed cyclists and did not wish to feel out of place. Oswald filled every expectation and then some. There were eight of us and we were famished when we got there. The kind waitress immediately saw the need and came running. What I liked best was all our meals were exceptional, and yet the staff and atmosphere was very friendly and casual. I hate a good meal with uppity staff. This was just the opposite.
My out of town guests wanted a Pinot Grigio and the waitress recommended another Italian wine that was superb. She gave them the bottle to buy more. These guests know wine. In an unpretentious and helpful tone, they were introduced to a new favorite.
The whole meal was relaxed. The waitress was again helpful when we need to divide up the checks. The whole evening was filled with gracious hospitality and great food. I'd recommend it for a special evening out. It's one of the best meals and experiences I've had.
