Stopped here travelling from Santa Barbara to LA. Our teenage children though it was great, value wise not bad if you buy the wristbands and spend a couple of hours there. A range of food available, we ate at the Mexican restraunt at the end of the pier good food reasonably priced. Worth a stop if you have bored children

California beaches are beautiful, and Santa Monica it's ok, but it's crowded, and found a place for parking it's a difficult job. It's better to go to Venice Beach or Malibu.

The pier is a must, when visiting Santa Monica. Make sure you take a photo at the entrance of the pier, under the Santa Monica sign. Interesting walk along the pier that extends out, into the open ocean. Nice view of the beach, as you stand at the edge of the pier, looking back at Santa Monica beach. You can either park along the road or at the Santa Monica Place (shopping mall) which is 5 to 10 minutes walk from the pier.

Fun, fun place to visit. With or without kids. We had two little ones with us and they had as much fun as us. Lots of activities going on: acrobats on the beach, rides in the park and beautiful views of the ocean and beach. Would love to spend more time there!

Having grown up near the South Jersey shore I have many childhood memories of rides on a seaside pier. The Santa Monica Pier brought those memories back. You can park right next to the pier for $12 all day. The rides were reasonable also. Lots of food venues from fast food to sit down.
