“A tasty treat in Santa Monica!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Huckleberry was an excellent choice for breakfast while in Santa Monica! The espresso was excellent, bakery items were out of this world (I highly recommend the blueberry corn cake) and the breakfast items were delicious and wonderfully portioned! Everything is local and made fresh to order. I wouldn't skip this place if you are in Santa Monica!

“Huckleberry Cafe and Bakery”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Huckleberry serves a great selection of breakfast options ranging from granola to a full cooked breakfast. All of the food is organic and the bakery is on the premises.

You have to line up to order your food and pay at the counter before you get a table. The wait staff are great at assisting you getting a table and try to stop those who have not ordered from reserving a table until they have ordered.

The coffee, also organic, is great.

“all is good”

Lunch or pastries, you can't go wrong. This is our go-to place for desserts to take to friends, or a quick gourmet lunch. Great sandwiches and the best quiche. Period.

“Delicious Comfort Food”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

There is something comforting about getting in line here and wanting to order everything on the menu - traditional turkey, tuna, brisket, eggs, BLTs and divine desserts from ccokies to moist fluffy layer cakes. Everything is fresh, flavors are balanced and yummy.

The line will snake out the door on weekends and it can be annoyingly crowded, but I've always managed to get a table. Even better - if you are visiting - you can get your order to go and drive down to the beach for a picnic.

“If a popular independent blogger and a New York Times review both recommend a spot, you know it's gotta be good!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

In planning my first trip to LA, I consulted a blog post written by one of my favorite food bloggers, who recommended Huckleberry Cafe & Bakery in Santa Monica, among other destinations. I also cross-referenced a book, The New York Times' "36 Hours USA & Canada" West Coast edition, which listed the Bakery as part of their suggested itinerary.

The food here is sublime. While I didn't have a full meal here, I did stop by with a couple of friends for some coffee and a small bite to eat. Their strawberry tart was delicious, as was this airy cinnamon roll we got after finishing the tart, which left us wanting more.

The decor also adds to the experience. The space is bright and colorful, yet cozy. The staff are cheerful and friendly.

I look forward to returning here the next time I visit LA!
