Where else in LA can you get breakfast for under $10? Yummy, diner style food. Not necessarily healthiest options but good.

The vibe at Rae's is amazing. It feels as if nothing has changed since the early 1950's in this throwback diner. My boyfriend had the star dish in the waffles. They were fantastic. Everything else (my eggs, bacon, potatoes and biscuit) were average at best and left me feeling a bit off all day. The prices here are unbeatable but it's good to know that it's "cash only" before you go.

Fantastic old fashion diner you would expect was all along Route 66 back in the day. Its basic, make no mistake, its NOT fine dining. If you want honest meals like beef hash and eggs this is your place! The staff are friendly and fast, fastest coffee refills you will find anywhere.

The menu looks like it hasnt changed in decades, perfect!

I've had a love affair with realtime, authentic coffee shops since my first film noir....watching Philip Marlow or some other local detective sipping a cup of "Joe"; reading the daily newspaper; and chatting with his neighbor on the counter. And that's the secret of a great coffee shop. AND this is one great coffee shop. Great yet simple food (eggs; pancakes; bacon; breakfast sausages (don't look for Brats, or fancy Italian; just breakfast links like your mom may have made back in the day; coffee; good burgers; sandwiches; etc); and good company sitting next to you or in the next booth ready to share stories bout LA or the diner itself. Come to Rae's! Great, fresh eggs, breakfast food, good coffee, patron's who come from every walk of life from blue collar shift laborers; retired locals; rock & roll types; green hair types; ultimately, "your" type. And it all gets mixed together for authentic coffee shop LA. The full dinner menu isn't the best by me, but for breakfast or lunch it's hard to beat the reasonable prices; good service; upbeat attitutude. Try it! Wait in line for a table which is part of the experience. Go for it today. And besides all that, the building is a classic 1950's diner which has been filmed by dozens of film crews. Kudo's to its owner, Teddy!
