“Very good food, good service, and some good local ales”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Was at the Border Grill for a dinner service on a Saturday evening. It was full and we had a wating time of around 20 min.
The pace is very lively and loud. Do not expect to have a quiet conversation as the place buzzes with energy and some great Mexican vibe.
Service was attentive at best. Food was very good. The grilled chicken salad was wholesome and refreshing and it ticked all the right boxes. They also have some good local ales (Blue Duck).
On the whole a very enjoyable evening, and would definitely return if I were in that location.

“Decent Happy Hour”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

This place has adequate Mexican fare, although I have had better. The happy hour tacos and margaritas were tasty and decently priced, but be aware that the happy hour menu is only served in the bar. Service was average and the server tried to bring us appetizers that we didn't order and looked confused when we didn't accept them. The server also seemed to disappear once we had been given the check and it was clear we wouldn't be ordering any more food. Not a bad experience, but there are definitely much better places to eat in the area.

“Nice little place”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We enjoyed our early Friday dinner at Border Grill. Had excellent service from Eduardo. Loved the food. Only complaint was that the pomegranate margarita seemed a little weak!

“A nice place that lacked atmosphere and flavour”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

For 'simple' Mexican food the Border grill seems to be a bit over the top in terms of what it's trying to achieve, sadly this the place lacked any real atmosphere (but that might have been because it was a Monday night) but more importantly the food lacked any taste. Perhaps the chef is one of the new breed that doesn't like seasoning his food but the the flavours were all two dimensional and flat. I was hoping for better

“Don't bother - very average”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

This meal started badly as although we had pre-booked we were shown to a table right at the back which did not have enough place settings & was messy. Then the (friendly) waiter bought the wrong wine despite confirming that we wanted white wine he bought red! Drinks took ages to come too but menu looked good so took the waiters recommendation for the pork dish with Plantain. They kindly changed some of the food to plainer versions for our fussy kids so that was a plus point but when the main meals finally arrived more than an hour later! One was missing, one was cold and had missing items on it (Plantain!!) and again waited ages for drinks refills. The server realised it had not gone well so produced some complimentary desserts which was a nice touch but by then we had had enough. Overall quite a disappointing experience.
