Hotel stuffs are very friendly and have good knowledge of winery, so I was able to have enough information to visit Sonoma Wineries. It's a good location even from Napa Valley, so I recommend staying this hotel between winery tour Napa and Sonoma.

The hotel was attractive, clean and well appointed. What stood out was the friendliness and desire of the staff to see that their guests have a good experience. It started with check in and lasted throughout our 2 night stay. The lady in charge of the hotel's $10.95 breakfast buffet obviously took great pride in her work. It showed. I have stayed in nicer rooms for less money, but never with better customer service.

At first glance the hotel seems remote. It is some distance from the centre of Santa Rosa, bordered on one side by a very quiet airport, and on the other by vineyards. Be aware that the northbound off-ramp from US101 is currently closed - fortunately it is only a short detour to Shiloh Road where you backtrack southbound to the exit.

Check in was quick, and the staff on reception very professional and friendly. We were assigned a 3rd floor room.

The hotel was quiet - I do not think it was fully booked. There were other people about though, and I did not experience any of the sound impacts other reviewers have commented on - the room walls may be thin, but I did not notice anything!

The room was standard HGI ... fluffy towels, comfy beds, clean ... and also featuring the new Keurig coffee machines - these make good coffee using small pods...but it is one coffee mug per pod, which could be a problem is there are several of you in a room and you want a coffee in the evening and in the morning - not a problem here though and extra pods were forthcoming. My one gripe with this is that HGI have removed the proper coffee mugs that used to be in all rooms, and moved down to paper cups. A good cost saving I am sure, but a poor customer experience.

Breakfast was excellent and the serving staff very friendly. Food was hot, cooked to order and backed up by a decent buffet of cold items and pastries.

The downside to this stay was the evening dining experience. The hotel is remote an there is not many eating establishments close by. So after a long drive and not wishing to go out again, we were pleased to see the Great American Grill served dinner. We should have gone out. The server was unenthusiastic, and one main course came with a salad as a starter. As I had already eaten one salad that day, I did not want another, so asked for soup (also on the menu) to be substituted. Not possible. The half chicken I ate was not great - undercooked, whilst the steak frites salad my dining companions partook off was all salad, about 5 frites, and almost impossible to find steak.

We put that one down to experience, and went out the next evening - and it did not detract hugely from the stay.

So if you are prepared to go out to eat, this property is conveniently placed for Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, and wine country. Clean and comfortable, with largely friendly staff, I would recommend.

We booked the hotel through Hotwire.com an hour before we arrived, and were pleased to get this nice hotel quite cheap. There were a pool, a hot tub, a fitness room a.o. and the rooms were spacious. Very nice breakfast, too (not included in the price, though).

Nice hotel. Clean and well maintained. Helpful staff. Possibly the best Hilton garden Inn I've ever stayed. Highly recommended when visiting the Santa Rosa area vineyards. easy access to and from the highway. Plenty of free parking. Breakfast buffet is well wroth the money.

we stayed here 3 nights with another couple on a wine tasign trip to sonoma Valley, the staff was very helpful and professional, the large breakfast was at additional fees but you could order eggs as you wanted them or eat off of the buffet or both. The Location was on the North side of town so it was good for exploring the North valley wineries. Pool area was nice, hot tub was hot, the hotel was very clean, rooms on the back side have a nice veiw of the golf course and vineyards. The walls were very thin, you could hear everything in the next rooms and rooms above you. Road construction on the freeway exchange there made it a bit difficult but that should soon tbe completed. Near the airport, the other couple took a shuttle back to SFO, as we went over to Napa Valley for the rest of out Trip. Good Value, no spa, but suited our needs for a few nights.

Room Tip: Rooms on the North have great views, south looks onto Parking lots.
