“Great Winery For Picnicing and Tasting!”
Reviewed 17 June 2012

The place is so beautiful, the team is friendly, and the wine is great! Their Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rose are great and I, like most, am not a Rose fan!

I only wish they held tours of their facilities even for a charge!

Become a wine club member, its great deal and idea for gift giving. We had never been members before and found it to be great!

I love their Lavendar fields and products that you can buy directly from their store and website. The lavendar sachets make great odorizers for closets and drawers!

“Perhaps My Favorite Vineyard (...and I'd prefer for it to remain a secret hidden gem in wine country!)”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

I've been to Matanzas Creek on many occasions, in all seasons and weather conditions and it is always beautiful and the wines are generally quite yummy! I will keep returning with people as I know they will enjoy it as so many others have in the past.

The people who work here have always been friendly and provide wonderful service. The only time the service was not at it's normal excellence was on Mother's Day weekend. I made that mistake once and I will never make it again - wineries are not a good place to be on holidays - they get too slammed with people that the quality of the experience deteriorates (and that's not specific to Matanzas but rather wineries in general).

The lavender garden is serene and a lovely place to take a glass of wine and relax for an hour. And if you like lavender, the products that they create with their lavender harvest are so unique that they are irresistible!

It may be a little off the beaten track for wine country, but it's worth it. Most of the wineries that are "in town" or otherwise conveniently located don't necessarily have the best wines or the best experiences. My advice would be to travel on the narrow winding roads in the middle of no-where and find a random winery to stop in and taste at - you'll be surprised how amazing some are -- after all, that's how I found Matanzas!

“A wonderful experience you shouldn't miss when in wine country”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

Private reserve tasting with small samples of cheese was one of the best we’ve ever done. The tour through the lavender field and barn before the tasting was very good, and John was a great guide given his perspective as a grower. The wines were exceptional, but a little more than we’d normally spend. Definitely recommend to others as a quaint winery stop, even though this winery is now part of the large Jackson family of wineries.
