We arrived to check in at the hotel before noon and our room was not yet ready, so we decided to grab lunch at Nectar instead of getting in the car to go somewhere. I didn't have much of a expectation but the prospect of just walking a few steps and having somebody bring me lunch was a strong pull.
Much to our delight, we got seated at the restaurant's outdoor terrace. As you may realize, this hotel is located right next to 101 in an industrial park sort of area (although the old round red barn is right next door). And while you can see some of the freeway and some buildings, the view from the terrace is surprisingly pleasant, with the hills around you. My Cobb salad was one of the better ones, the iced tea was refreshing, and the Italian lemon creme cake my hubby and I split for dessert was both zippy and creamy. Service was friendly and energetic. All in all it was a really nice lunch.
Because of that experience, we ended up returning to that terrace for drinks and snacks twice more - all just as good with great service. My hubby particularly liked the pizzas. And oh, they had an amazing cocktail made with cucumber vodka and lime that was the essence of a good summer drink - a dangerous one, actually, since you couldn't really taste that there was alcohol in there.
On our last day we had breakfast indoors at Nectar - the breakfast buffet was OK - average but decent, with the usual hotel breakfast buffet fare.
Other than the breakfast, we found Nectar to be a really lovely little spot for deliciousness, relaxing gentle breezes (they have glass panels so those breezes aren't too strong), service that takes care of you, and a nice enough view to make us feel like it was a comforting place to come back to. I wouldn't mind sitting there right now, waiting for someone to bring me one of those cucumber lime cocktails!
