This is a great museum for kids and adults who are interested in classic planes. It's right next door from the Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa.

Its really worth the effort of driving out of Santa Rosa to find this small but interesting collection of mainly military aircraft. The staff, apparently all volunteers, are so enthusiastic and helpful and have lots of interesting tales to relate.
The aircraft display is mostly outdoors so go on a sunny day and enjoy a little piece of history

Lots of static displays of aircraft. Basically you get to walk around the airplanes. It would be nice if they could have an opportunity to get into the cockpits of the planes.

I'm not an aviation fan but my son is. He LOVED this place (lots of cool real planes to see) and the volunteers that run this (many former military retired folks) really do know what they are talking about. I was surprised by how much more there was to do and learn about than I initially thought. Children and aviation enthusiasts would enjoy this place.

The museum is self-guided but a must altenrative to winery visits if you are at all interested in aviation history. The staff is friendly. There is a $6 entrance fee but I felt it was going to great use in supporting this local piece of Sonoma aviation history. Little did I know that the airport was a WWII training airfield.
