July 2016 is my third Snoopy Tournament in 5 years, The rink's see-through boards and the Bavarian theme are very cool. The ice surface is surprisingly great to skate on. It was 80-plus degrees every day; but the ice was always hard and even.
Downfall with the rink are the dressing rooms. They haven't been refreshed or updated in the past decade. I can't think of any team shower that has two small shower stalls. The urinal in the upper dressing room was broken too.
In spite of the shortcomings in the dressing rooms -- the tournament is the best. I'll keep coming back,
This treasure is Santa Rosa, known as Snoopys Home Ice, was a gift of Charles Schultz the cartoonist. A favorite of the locals it is well maintained and set near the museum celebrating Charles Schultz. Attached to the ice rink is a small breakfast, lunch cafe named after Snoopy. Charles Schultz are breakfast each morning. Fun to see.
I came here when I was a kid for Girl Scouts and friends' birthday parties. It is hugely nostalgic for me. I ice skate poorly, but still, I always try it. We plan to bring our grandkids here the next time they visit. The smell of the ice and the little diner.... such happy, nostalgic memories.
This is a great place to bring young kids that are just learning how to ice skate. I've been bringing my six year old for a couple of years and she is just learning. They have a special parents and kids in the morning for 90 minutes where you can skate with a chair if need be. They also have free instructions during that period. Good fun!
Ok so ice skating is a great way to have fun with the family! This place has a lot of rich history. Charles Schultz is a legend here and his legacy lives on here. Outside the skating rink is a museum fill with amazing Peanuts history. If you grew up a crazy Snoopy or Charlie Brown fan you don't want to miss it. The skating Rick has helpers for those first timers or little ones just trying it out. Bring glove and a jacket but be prepared to warm up!
Before going to the Charles Schulz Museum next door, we stopped in to see the ice rink that he built for the community. The restaurant continues to maintain Charles Schulz's reserved table - check it out as under the glass covering are photos and quotes from Schulz. There are stained glass windows with Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Outside in the concrete are signatures from famous ice skaters who performed at the rink. Even if you are not into ice skating it is nice, quick stop before going over to the Charles Schulz Museum.
