“Pleasant Stay, Definite Good Value for Wine Country”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2012

Two thumbs up! Queen w/ sofa room for Labor Day wknd, booked on short notice. $97/nite. Definitely a good deal for wine country. Fine mattress, good towels, clean room, sturdy furnishings, good TV, pillows could be better. As others have said the pool is a hit w/ kids for sure. The hotel's included b-fast is decent, but if you want something more go to the nearby fabulous Piner Cafe.

We stayed at the Sandman after finding that every other hotel in the area was either sold out or horrendously expensive for the Saturday stay, this one came up at $97. We decided to give it a try when even the nearby Holiday Inn wanted over $300. It was a very pleasant surprise, easy to get to from the 101. The room was extremely clean and had a fridge and microwave and even real cups for the coffee. It offered an array of breakfast foods as well which was included in the room cost. I think for the money it was a great find, even though the TV was one of the old style ones it worked fine, not fancy, just great value. My only negative was the bed and pillows which were harder than I'm used to, would be nice to offer a soft pillow option but all round a great value hotel for a stay.

Room Tip: ask for one in the back section away from the road, they are not the most sound proof rooms.

We don't usually hang at the pool because they are almost always too small and crowded. This one is nice and big and my husband could even do his laps in it. The spa is also big. The rooms, although a little small, are very adequate and clean. The location is good too--right off Hwy. 101-- but our room was quiet with no freeway noise. It seems to be a family-run motel and the staff is friendly and helpful. It was the best lodging of our whole trip.

We stayed here 2 nights to do the Sonoma Valley. This place was a nice find in a central location. Friendly desk, clean rooms, included very decent breakfast. No reason not to stay here, and the price was right. We found a ton to do within easy driving distance. Pick this place and you will not be disappointed. Kudos to the entire staff.

Room Tip: We faced the pool, ice machine close, breakfast a hop, skip & jump away:)

A great spot if you want to avoid chain hotels. The room was just fine and the pool and hot tub were beautiful, with nice tables for a picnic. The breakfast was impressive for a free continental type. A great location for doing wine country.

Room Tip: Bring your bathing suit.

I chose to stay here based on reviews I saw here on tripadvisor. The place was clean, rooms had been updated somewhat and they had a Sunday night special rate. Everything was as good as expected. Front desk clerk let me look at a queen room and a king room before deciding to stay here.
Just beware the walls on this place are quite thin and transmit a lot of noise through the walls and from above you if you are on the lower level.
We had a very amorous couple next door to us that was up most the night-doing there thing....which kept waking us up...
Just an fyi ....

Room Tip: I would suggest an upper level room here due to the noise

It is so hard to find an affordable hotel near wine country, especially one that does not require a two night minimum stay for a Friday night. My husband stayed here for one night while my parents were in town for some wine tasting. The rooms are comfortable, although we did not find the extra pillows in the dresser drawer until the next morning, and there are only 3 pillows on the bed originally. The bathroom vanity has plenty of counter space. The vanity is separate from the shower and toilet, which is always a benefit with multiple people getting ready in the morning. The shower has good water pressure. In the morning, we could hear some of the noise going on outside, so if you are a light sleeper, you will not be able to sleep in at all. Breakfast is a basic continental breakfast and was all we needed before starting out our day. The Sandman gave us what we needed: a good night's rest.
