We stayed at the Hotel La Rose which now has only a self-service breakfast. We walked a block and a half to the Omelette Express every morning. Liked the late fities, early sixties music, the Jaguar front ends hanging on the walls like African trophies and the oak tables. Loved the waitresses who were universally competent, friendly and NICE. FIrst time was for lunch and I had a tomato and bacon and jack cheese omelette. It looked huge, enough for three people... I had 3/4 of it and was sated and stopped. Breakfast was American for me.. two eggs scrambled or over easy with ham (wow!) or sausage (spicy), passed on the potatoes and wished for grits and took veggies instead, and a perfectly done English muffin with butter and added the orange marmalade. LIked the made-by-the-waitress decaf lattes I had every morning. Warm and welcoming and tasty. What a way to start the day!
