“Uniquely Retro”
Reviewed 5 July 2010

This hotel looks like it forgot to remodel but after staying there, it adds to its charm. It reminds me of a very upscale hotel of the sixties. It could have very well been built in the Hawaiian islands when tourism was raging. But it's service, cleanliness and fantastic restaurant pleased me. It was a unique experience and I'm interested in going back again.

Spent three nights at the Flamingo. It's a two-story motel that's been given a superficial makeover to mask its true nature. Please don't be mislead by the word "resort" in this facility's title. The lobby, the restaurant, the rooms, the drive-up nature of the layout all scream 1960's era road trip in the station wagon with your family. There was no bathtub, the coffee service was on a bamboo stand in the closet, the bed was old and uncomfortable, the lighting was horrific, and we were quite disappointed with the Flamingo.

Bid on priceline for a hotel in this area and received this hotel. Went to their site and was not impressed. When I arrived, I was checked in a just a few minutes and off to my room. The hotel is old but is remodeled very nice. Due to the old construction it can be noisy and you hear a lot of people in the halls and doors slamming. Otherwise, room was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. 12 mile drive to Sonoma and all the wine tasting one can do in a day along the way. Santa Rosa had nice restaurants but at the end of the day I was too tired to go back out. Right next door to a Safeway with Starbucks.

we booked the Flamingo pretty much as a last resort- everything we tried booking online in the Sonoma and Napa valleys, before choosing this location, was fully booked. We did not know Santa Rosa and I didn't find the hotel's name inspiring. But what a nice surprise! First, the location is perfect if you're planning on around Sonoma and Napa valleys. it is close to outlets, although we didn't pay them a visit this time. Santa Rosa is a small town with all amunities you eold need on vacation. And, as we found out, it was the home of Charles Schultz - you know, Peanuts, Charlie Brown...and visitors can find a high quality museum of his life nad work. Second, the Flamingo Hotel and Resort turned out to be a well renovated and pristine facility. Built in the 50's it was renovated in a contemporary decor that is very fiting. We were welcomed with a smile and a complimentary upgrade to a suite with view on the pool. the suite included one flat screen tv in the bedroom as well as in the living room. The suite was also equipewd with a small fridge and a microwave oven. I would have liked a larger, more modern bathroom. it was renovated, with granite counter, tile wall in the shower, and a large shower head, but still very small and basic, Foodwise, we ordered room service the first evening. The fare is pub like. Don't expect fine californian cuisine. However, our breakfast was very good and there was a good choice of options on the menu, including a simple but complete buffet with a lot of fresh fruits! Over all I would recommend this hotel to my friends either for couples or families alike. We were very pleased with our choice and our stay there.

We stayed here for three nights while we visited Sonoma and Napa Valley. We visited during "peak" season and needed a reasonable place to stay. The hotel was clean with a nice pool. We toured all day and then went back to our room to rest. We booked through the hotel website and found the best price through a special offer.

We travelled here in August and had a really nice stay. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing. The rooms were clean and quiet. The location is very convenient. We had a death in the family and had to postpone our trip by a week. The staff was very kind and courteous and helped us in re-scheduling our reservation. We were so appreciative.
