Cavallo is the perfect spot for a weekend away from the kids. It's close enough to San Francisco but far enough to feel like we were really getting away from the hustle and bustle. Our room in one of the original buildings was beautiful and spacious, the massages were soothing and relaxing and the food was delicious. We asked the sommelier for a wine recommendation at dinner and he steered us to an Italian barolo that was superb and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back soon.

I visited Cavallo Point for a week-end and it is the perfect place to relax and unwind, just 20 minutes drive from SF.

Its position in the Golden Gate Park gives you straight away the sense of space and nature of National Parks such as the Yosemite or Sequoia.

The hotel has different lodges; rooms are big, spacious clean, with fireplace and with excellent view on the Golden Gate.

The Spa is valuable; it has an outdoor swimming pool and sauna and jacuzzi for womend and men. Staff is very availabel and the lounge room with fireplace allows you to relax.

Staff is nice and service quite good; sometimes it takes too long for the reception to answer but overall it is a very nice experience.

This is our second visit to the property for our anniversary. We love the history of the place (Fort Baker), the location (Near SF and Marin), the vibe (nature, hiking, good food), and the views (SF skyline, Golden Gate, Angel Island, Tiburon). The restaurant on site is solid with lot's of additional great choices over the bridge or in Sausalito. The exercise facility could use a bit more in the way of weight equipment for me, but there are lot's of treadmills and bikes...strange for a place where there are plenty of places to jog and hike.

Room Tip: Definitely go for one of the historic rooms (former officers bungalows). 3 nights for 2 promotions are great.

A spur of the moment wild idea from my wife who called on Sat for Sun and got a markedly reduced rate as a local. We had a second floor room in the "contemporary" section and we could see the hills, part of the compound and the GG bridge from our bed. Very nice room with luxury appointments. It is not a place teaming with on site activities, but you can hike to the bridge or to Marin headlands, and Sausalito is literally right around the corner. A drink on the porch of the restaurant buidling was special. A lovely visit.

We just live one hour from this resort and chose it for our extended weekend getaway in the city. We wanted to spend a lot of time in SF, but not necessarily stay in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Cavallo Point is just across the Golden Gate bridge and is the perfect relaxing spot after a day in the city. We stayed in one of the historical rooms and found it quite charming! The rooms were so interesting and we loved the ability to sit on our porch, look back towards SF and the Golden Gate bridge while we enjoyed a bottle of wine.

The staff here was also very friendly. When we made our reservation, I indicated that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. About an hour after we arrived, a bottle of champagne was delivered to our room from the concierge. It's these touches that will have us coming back to Cavallo Point!

As a side note, we booked through Perfect Escapes and got a better deal than any other we could find online, it included complimentary breakfast and an early check-in time as well.

Room Tip: We booked through an online site called Perfect E
