“world class spa”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

This trip has been my third time to this retreat hotel and spa. I have never been to a more beautiful spa. It is both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor area has a 100 degree heated pool surrounded by ornamental grasses. It also has outdoor gas fireplaces to sit and relax or eat/drink from the health bar.
The spa treatment with Kas was the best massage I have ever had. He is an expert on lower back pain.He gave me stretching tips to heal my back..My wife said it was the best massage for her lower back pain too.

Room Tip: Some rooms look at Golden Gate Bridge.

Green Features: They only change bed sheets if you request. They have same policy on towels

Simply -- wow! The service and rooms at Cavallo Point are amazing. The hardest part of the stay was getting the reservation through AmEx (required in my case). I called to hotel to validate the booking and they recommended a reservation at the Murray Circle restaurant. They even passed on our details about our anniversary where the dessert chef made a little chocolate tasting for us with "Happy Anniversary" written on it, along with giving us a handwritten card.

The details matter and upon making a practical suggestion to the manager, he immediately wrote it down, thanked me, and also gave me a credit to offset any potential detriment I may have felt for a truly minor issue (a prior, likely tall guest left an empty plate in our room on a very high shelf where only vertically enhanced people could see it). The view from the room was stunning. The fog hid much of the Golden Gate Bridge at times, but we didn't mind seeing the views change.

I do recommend bringing a jacket at all times of the year as the winds are consistently chilly. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room to meet your preferences (old style or new, bridge views or nature views, etc.).

Our fourth time at Cavallo Point for the Breakthrough Institute was fantastic. We stayed in a lovingly restored building transformed from officers' quarters into hotel rooms, enjoyed great organic food, efficient friendly service and had spectacular views at an amazing location. The Breakthrough Institute's discussion of eco-modernism could not have been held at a more appropriate venue.

Room Tip: There are many kinds of rooms - some in older buildings, some in a more modern complex. All are wond...

Green Features: The hotel engages in many green practices - not changing sheets and towels daily unless requested, use of organic soaps, use of renewable materials. One practice that I noted in particular was dispensing with manicured mowed lawns.

We stay in SF often, and decided to try this spot in Sausalito for a change. What a spot. The view is fabulous, the lodge lovely. We loved the early morning walks into Sausalito for coffee (and returning to the lodge for breakfast). Though the "historic rooms" sound nice, and tempting for their trad decor, the lack of amenities in these rooms were a disappointment (no dresser or bathroom countertop in our room), we were able to move to a "contemporary" room, which was great. Wonderful view of the bridge all times of the day. Elizabeth Goodwin (Guest rel's mgr) was so very helpful to us. Her service is to be commended. The spa was excellent.

Room Tip: I'd recommend the contemporary rooms.

Green Features: Very inspiring, though for a luxury hotel, I'd like better flow from the shower heads.

This unique property has spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Rooms are very nicely appointed. Hotel employees are above expectations - extremely helpful and very accommodating. Tasting menu in restaurant was excellent. We look forward to returning!

The reinvention of this former military facility -- some of its denizens watched for Japanese planes & submarines during World War II -- is a tribute to adaptive re-use, working with the community, and being green. It's not inexpensive but doesn't pretend to be. If you want a serene spot while you're in white-hot San Francisco, nothing beats being out on the parade grounds or on the legendary front porch, gazing out to the Golden Gate Bridge and the inevitable fog.

Room Tip: The renovated officers quarters are great from an historical perspective, but you should also consid...

Despite a botched check in (one room for four people, I think not!) we ultimately enjoyed a great visit. This spot is quiet and great for hiking and walking. Travel to city is easy enough and makes the location and the views well worth it. It is so quiet, it is a real treat from the city chaos.

Room Tip: Rooms come in two types, renovations of old Fort Baker accommodations and newly created LEED hillsid...

Green Features: This is a totally LEED certified property. It is admirably done. Really like this aspect of the property, and it suits the location in the hills.
