My son, age four was especially excited to "excavate" the sunken artifacts out of the outdoor Spanish ship exhibit. The view is incredible and the staff were incredibly courteous and attentive to my son. We had an amazing time and will definitely go back given the opportunity.

We took our 4 1/2 year old and his 14-month-old brother here recently. They really liked playing with the trains, the building "blocks," and doing the art projects. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge from below is breath-taking. On a sunny day, it's a great place to bring children because the museum is organized into separate buildings and there are activities outside, as well. You can bring a picnic lunch, which worked well for our group, or purchase food there. All-in-all, a very pleasant experience for both children and adults.

We had a wonderful afternoon here with our kids 2 weekends ago. I know people say bring your young kids here and yes, it's perfect for them, but older kids also enjoy this place. There are so many places for them to explore, inside and outside. Lots of hands-on fun. We let our kids dictate where we were going and how long we were going to be at each place. As for food, there's a food truck, on the pricy end but you're allowed to bring your own food. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy your lunch. It think it cost $11 per person. But check your local library. Ours offers free passes to certain museums, this happened t offer free tickets (2 adults, 2 kids) since we saved a lot of money that way, I was able to buy souvenirs for the kids. This way, fun continued at home! So make sure you check your local library! :)

Sausalito is such a magnificent city to visit, a perfect day trip. If you do have a couple of hours of spare time while you are there, make sure to check out this place. This place is perfect for kids under 5 years old. If you have babies or toddlers, they have a Tots Lot for babies around this age. They can crawl in there and explore the little man made pond that's height appropriate for them to play. The art studio is perfect for student to explore their creativity. Of course they have a massive play structure that's fun for all ages.

We stopped here for a 2 1/2 hour visit with our 15 month old. The outdoor parts were the most fun for our family and where we spent most of our time. Bubbles, musical instruments, building blocks, play structures and river feature (not for swimming) kept us busy during our quick trip. The Tot Spot was hands on and has tons of things for her to climb, explore & discover.

There was a food truck on site for lunch but we brought our own. As others mentioned, it's a beautiful place to take a family photo with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

Eating outside was cold and windy. Be prepared for cool weather when you visit.

The SF public library offers discount passes if you know a card holder. The Discover & Go program made tickets affordable.

I can see us revisiting this museum in the future. As she grows there are many more things to explore.
