It was a neat place to visit and was interesting and had so much to offer for both my 8 year old and teenager.

“Fantastic State of the Art Marine Mammal Hospital”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

This is well worth the short trip from Sausalito to the beautiful ocean-view site of the Center in the Marin Headlands. They do incredible work here, nursing elephant seals, sea lions, harbor seals and dolphins back to health. They also educate the public to the many health problems these incredible animals encounter mostly as a result of human pollution...etc.

“Nature taking it's course?”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

I often wonder if The Marine Mammal Center is letting nature take its course. Is saving beached animals really worth the $$$ invested in this effort? Could the money be better used in other areas to save our wildlife?

“A Place of Healing - For Marine Animals and Mother Ocean”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

On our visit one thing was clear: This is a place of love and miracles for Sea Lions, Elephant Seals, Harbor Seals, greater endangered species like Northern Fur, Guadalupe and Stellars; even otters and dolphins and whales. (Rescue/Medical staff have to make 'house calls' for Whales wherever they may be, but once reported, it appears no marine mammal in need is left behind or forgotten). Tucked into a hillside above Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands, entering the visitor center you know right away it's a special place - a hospital providing medical care to sick and injured animals, AND a second chance at life. The interpretive exhibits are both educational and interesting, and there are several ways to tour. In a docent lead tour around the facilities you begin to understand the vast amount of work involved, and the dedication of over a 1,000 volunteers who see to the day to day care of these beautiful animals. We learned there are times of the year when the patient census is high and lots of animals are visible from the top viewing deck, mostly February - mid summer. From the top deck you can see feedings (around 2 PM), Vet. medical treatments, volunteers working hands-on with their patients, seeing lovingly to their needs. TMMC is doing a good job educating people not only about ocean health and the dangers created through pollution and garbage, but what kind of difference just ONE person can make through small changes... SO worth the drive into the headlands, but bring a picnic - there is no food for sale in the area!
