Stayed just one night, but it was absolutely worth it!
We are local, and one might question the value of staying so close to home, but the Inn Above Tide provides the ultimate get away environment. The rooms (we had a small one, but with a balcony) are spotless, well-lit and complete with robes, slippers, IPod doc, flat screen w/DVD, high-end toiletries, and a fragrant gardenia on the stone sink in the bathroom. The views are amazing - full panoramic - including all of San Francisco, Angel Island, and the Belvedere/Tiburon area. Yes, the ferry dock is adjacent, but the ships are generally quiet, do not come very often, and add to the charm.
We slept with the balcony door (screened) open. It was heaven to listen to the lapping SF Bay waters and smell the fresh salt air.
Spa services are available, but we did not partake on this trip.
The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful.
Will we be back? Absolutely!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with a balcony.

Second visit to this wonderful hotel and this time we bought our friends who fell in love with it too! I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The wonderful rooms with superb beds, terrific breakfasts and afternoon wine and cheese hour and best of all the superb views! It is the only place to stay in Sausalito and was a perfect end to a wonderful holiday. Thank you everyone for your kind attention and helpfulness.

From the moment we stepped foot in the Hotel staff could not do enough for us, a nice congratulations card and bottle of champagne in the room was a lovely gesture. The room was beautiful and spacious, the views stunning,. we ordered breakfast to the room and it was fabulous to sit out sipping coffee watching the world go by.

In late afternoon the hotel has a cheese and wine reception which introduced us to a couple of different cheeses and the never ending wine was much appreciated!

Yes its expensive but sometime things are actually worth it and I would and have recommended it to anyone who find themselves that side of the golden gate bridge.

Nice amenities but it didn't make up for a small room, a visible, passenger filled ferry boat that you could only hide from by closing the drapes and the view....We were in room 105. A centrally located room. The ferry is visible from all rooms when we inquired upon arrival.
The San Francisco view is too far to really enjoy even if you have clear weather rather than the ever present San Francisco fog.

No doubt about it, this is THE ONLY place in Sausalito, accomodation wise that is DIRECTLY ON the water. Get a room with a deck and you can sit out there day and night and watch the boats, the liners, the sea planes, the view of San Francisco.

It is NOT cheap, but then nothing good in life is. Don't be expecting ornate rooms or a fancy restaurant or large lobby. This is a cool small Inn. More like a B & B.

Tiny lobby, small breakfast room/den, small parking area and rooms range in size and view depending on price.

IT is perfect for couples that want to CHILL out, walk around town, take a boat ride, take the ferry to San Francisco and come back at night to a calm place.

I would definitely advise NOT taking the cheaper rooms if you really want a deck and great view. IF you are not water buffs or could care less about the view, save your money and don't bother staying here.

There is no real bar, no dining room for dinner, no swimming pool, no concierge floor, no loud groups, not much noise and usually not any children.

We go to Sausalito at least once a year for a night or two, and we have waited YEARS for an Inn like this to come to this tiny town. Yes, at times we wish we could have dinner here or call room service at 2am but that's life.

We have tried quite a few of the rooms and if you can afford it, definitely take a room with a deck and fireplace. Except for July and August, the fireplace is nice at night.

It takes a certain type of person or couple to appreciate this place, the Fairmont, the Ritz Carlton, the Four Seasons, it is not.

The big attraction is you are staying in a cool small town, where you walk to things, looking at one of the most photographed views in the USA, the skyline and waterfront of San Francisco, and your deck is right on the Bay.

Room Tip: The higher priced (best rooms) book up way ahead

From the moment you arrive, every courtesy is extended to you and making your visit relaxing and enjoyable. The accommodation is superb and with a glass fronted balcony overlooking the Bay, Alcatraz and San Francisco its difficult the think of a more delightful location. Rooms are not huge but design is everything and the choice of finishes is exemplary. Breakfast is great - a good selection of high quality items. Walk to the ferry next to the hotel and make an easy and enjoyable trip right into the heart of San Francisco. We were visiting for the second time from the UK - must be good to make around a 6000 mile trip!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony

All i can say is i read a lot of reviews before we picked Inn Above Tide and it was fantastic. We had bad weather, but who cares when you have such a fantastic room. We loved every minute of it.
