“Relaxing and peaceful”

We stayed at the inn above tide for 2 nights on our California road trip. This hotel was simply fabulous. We have no quibbles about the entire set up. From the minute we arrived every member of staff was helpful and smiling, changing money into smaller bills was not a problem, and the valet parking worked perfectly. The room itself was on the second floor and the balcony overlooked the bay, with the bay bridge and the SF skyline to the right and angel island directly in front. The sun came up above the island, which we could view from laying in bed. We had breakfast, which is complimentary, bought to our room for a cost of $3. there was 2 bottles of complimentary water in the room, which was refreshed the following day and when we checked out the receptionist gave us 2 bottles for the journey. The location is perfect for the shops and restaurants, even the ferry to SF is only 2minutes away. The view of the ferries when they came in or left does not deter from the view across the bay at all. In fact the ferries, yachts, canoeists and seals gives you something else to look at! Overall this stop on our journeys was one we will never forget

We travel to San Francisco once or twice a year and always stay by Union Square because of the shopping. This time we drove instead of flying and decided to stay in Sausolito so we would have a view of San Francisco rather than just a view of neighbouring hotels and office towers. We chose the Inn Above Tide for its location and view of Alcatraz and San Fran.

We were not disappointed. From the moment we drove into the tiny parking area we were warmly greeted and the valet looked after our car. We booked a room on the main floor with a large deck and fireplace. Although a couple dollars more, we were not disappointed. Watching the fog lift over the city each morning was a delight to behold.

They serve a complimentary continental breakfast in the small library room. We were surprised that it was more than just a few muffins. Freshly made quiche with fresh breakfast pastries, freshly squeezed juices, a selection of cold cuts and coffee and teas. What a nice start to the day.

We were further surprised with the evening complimentary wine. A nice selection of wines along with cheeses and crackers...the works! The first night we did not bother with dinner out as the complimentary service was sufficient. The clerk even said it was perfectly okay to make up a platter and carry back to our room and balcony.

You only need to walk across the street to pick from a variety of nice restaurants, or the ferry dock to SF is only a few short yards away.

The drive to Napa is only 40 minutes. Likewise to Sonoma.

The one question I always ask others is: "would you stay there again?". In this case without a doubt. It is our first pick when staying in the SF area.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but why not splurge for a suite !

During our honeymoon we stayed at this romantic, gorgeous, quiet hotel, which has the best view I have ever seen: the entire city of San Francisco over the bay. It was just breathtaking! Yes, it is quite pricey, which is why we only stayed 1 night and regretted it immediately upon our arrival. Should stay at least 2 nights to enjoy fully. Sausalito is so beautiful and the service at the Inn is impeccable. The amenities were wonderful: super comfortable robes, slippers to take home, champagne waiting, fully stocked fridge with very unique local treats, gas fireplace, private deck to sit and enjoy the view, large selection of movies to borrow, wine tasting in the evening, binoculars, Bulgari bathroom products. Just writing this makes me long to go back as soon as possible. If you're in the San Francisco area with the love of your life, this place is a MUST stay! Splurge, you won't regret it!

Room Tip: book the room with a private deck, it's worth it!

This inn would have normally been out of our price range but we decided to splurge for a night. The service was incredible, the room pristine and the view from the deck spectacular! Seeing the moon light on the bay with the lights of SF twinkling in the distance was worth every penny spent. The customer service was outstanding. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to accomodate us. The wine and cheese in the evening was very nice as was the continental breakfast. The pastries were delicious! . Really I cannot say enough about this inn. It is just across the way from the harbor where you can catch the ferry to SF. Yes, there is a parking charge but for us driving a big Suburban it was worth it. If you can afford even just a night here book a room with a deck and enjoy!!

We stayed for one night on our way to visiting Yosemite National Park. I have to say it was the most luxurious hotel we had ever stayed in. The room had the best view of the bay and San Francisco - absolutely right over the water. The beds were so comfortable with beautiful linens. Bathroom was gorgeous, great design, with porthole window. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and the most healthy, delicious breakfast buffet! We enjoyed the balcony and happened to be staying during a full moon. We saw a group of kayakers paddling right by our balcony taking a moonlight paddle. You could tell the staff was genuinely interested in being sure you enjoyed your stay with them. We would love to return again.

From the assistance beforehand to plan a great Sausalito experience for our anniversary to the waterfront room with a fireplace that took our blood pressure down a million points and gave us the best night of sleep for the trip. A morning run along the water followed by breakfast on the deck was a perfect ending to a great stay at the Inn
