“Elegance and comfort”

My daughter and I were walk-in guests for one night last month during a road trip up the central Californian coast. We wished we could have stayed longer. Sleek and stylish, the low rise structure seems to rise out of the water allowing spectacular views of San Francisco bay from the balconies, enhanced by a set of binoculars helpfully supplied to all rooms. The beds and linen are of the highest quality and comfort as are the bathrooms. The rooms are equipped with DVD players and ultra-flat screen TVs and the hotel has an extensive DVD library. Breakfast in the small but elegant ground floor reception room includes a selection of high quality pastries, and evening cocktails have generous quantities of excellent wine and cheese. Staff are quietly efficient and thoroughly helpful.

We live just 40 miles north of Sausalito & wanted a little getaway to celebrate our anniversary.
The balcony pictured on the website sold me on the place as I imagined me & my husband looking out at the water, drinking wine & relaxing.
This little gem of a hotel is perfectly located downtown, and it being right next to the ferry dock was really convenient, as we went right over to San Francisco without our car & stressing about parking. The ferry is NOT loud, as some reviewers say (and I LOVE my quiet). You may hear/feel a little vibration, but that's it.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful...the wine & cheese in the early evening was quality, beautiful and abundnant....we took our plates back to that balcony & sat for over 3 hours watching the boats come & go-and the complimentary breakfast had beautiful top notch pastry & fresh fruits.....The bed was comfy, but the massive pillows were odd.....really big! Loved the Bvlgari toiletries....the place was really quiet, as we arrived day after labor day. So we weren't bothered by other guests with noise. Over all I just loved this place & can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The balconies that are in the center are protected from the wind; if you get a corner room, your bal...

Recently came back from a one night stay at Inn Above Tide - and what a great place it is. First and foremost the views from the room were absolutely stunning. Face-on views of the San Francisco skyline from the rooms private balcony, with comfortable, stylish seating as well as binoculars for more detailed viewing of the bay.

The room itself was super - stylish and very comfortable - probably the best bed I've slept in. The complimentary cheese and wine tasting were an added bonus. The breakfast was included and great and they can bring it up to your room too! The staff really made the place it is today - super helpful and accommodating. Joe was a star.

Cannot recommend this place enough.

We flew in from NJ and arrived at the hotel at 10pm. The staff was amazing! They greeted us with a welcoming smile and immediately congratulated us on our wedding and quickly checked us in. When we got into the room there was a rose and nice bottle of Champaign waiting for us. The view from the room was incredible, we were on the first floor so the water was right below the balcony. After we finished the Champaign I put the rose in the empty bottle and put it out on the balcony; the next day the staff replaced the rose and the bottle with three more roses and a vase. The hotel is in a great location and the ferry is just steps away from the hotel. Every night they have wine and cheese from 5-7 and you can take it back to the room or even have it delivered to your room. Free bottles of water are provided and in your room and are replaced each day if needed. Continental breakfast and coffee is available each morning too. The staff was always ready and willing to assist in anything we needed, in fact every time we passed the desk they would asked if there was anything they can do for us; like make reservations, give us directions or suggestions. We look forward to going back again some day. Thank you, Roland!

Room Tip: Room 102 has a whirlpool tub that is great after walking around in SF.

We stayed here for a week following a really busy week in a very hot Las Vegas (which was fabulous, but exhausting!). Immediately on arrival we felt relaxed. Beautiful hotel with the most amazing views. I could sit on our balcony seal spotting for hours! The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was perfect (especially Rollin who arranged our excellent limo airport transfers before arrival - thank you!). There was champagne and roses waiting for us when we arrived, and chocolates every night.
The breakfast was included (and delivered to your room for just $3), and there was a free cheese and wine reception every evening.
Sausilito itself is like a little haven over the bay from San Francisco. We stayed in August, when San Francisco is foggy, windy and pretty cold, but 20 minutes over the bay in a ferry, and Sausilito was warm and sunny with clear skies! It also has some of the best restaurants that we tried while in the US.

This is a great place for romantic couples. It's right downtown Sausalito, has incredible views of the Bay, and is literally right above the tide and right next to the San Francisco Ferry. Sound proofing in the rooms make it an oasis of quietude in the morning hours, and the room appointments beckon to delightful trysts any time of the day. And all the denizens and delights of Sausalito are right outside your door!

My wife, son and I stayed here for 5 nights at the start of our California holiday. We had seen the hotel on a day trip to Muir Woods 12 years ago on our honeymoon and I had promised my wife that I would take her there. Expectations were therefore very high, but The Inn Above Tide didn't disappoint. Our room was beautifully clean and had a terrific view across the bay to San Francisco and a view across Sausalito harbour from another part of the room. Breakfasts were delicious and the free hot drinks all day and cheese and wine in the evening were a great touch. The best compliment I can give a place is to say that my wife didn't want to leave at the end of the stay and we have already decided that we will be back - as soon as possible!

Room Tip: The top floor gives best views but the rooms have smaller balconies
