“beautiful, remote, off the beaten track”

After Muir Woods, the Marin headlands are the thing to see in Marin County (staying near San Francisco). Rodeo beach is a beautiful location with a pebbled beach, gorgeous rocks and easy to find.

“Simple yet special. No crowds. Great for walking and biking.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2014 via mobile

We drove here through Marin Headlands and the entire driveway was awesome!! It's a quiet and beautiful place. We reached Rodeo beach and went for a walk. With high grounds or mountains on one side and the beach on the other, the scenery is simple yet lovely. The beach has rocks or high grounds on both sides which makes it secluded. You can get to the higher ground to get better views of the ocean. Great for a romantic hand in hand stroll. You can hear nothing but sound of waves, wind and water lashing against the rocks. I wouldn't say it is the best beach in SF but somehow the simplicity and almost nobody around, makes it a great place for a quiet and relaxed evening. There is a parking lot nearby and plenty of biking opportunities! If you have dogs, you can take em for a walk here. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this is THE place. You may want to carry some eatables as there is absolutely nothing nearby.

“Awesome beach and lagoon...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

I have to say the coastline here is pretty amazing especially during a hot sunny day, this is the spot for good picnic and sun-baking. This is also definitely a place for phototaking or photoshoot because its just so beautiful. Its worth coming here for a day out if you are around Sausalito but mind you, there is nothing much here to do except the beach and the nearby Marine Mammal Center. Remember to bring your own food and picnic gear cos theres no benches or beach chairs around here

“Beautiful, secluded beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

Based on tripadvisor reviews, we drove out to Rodeo Beach today in hopes of seeing whales rather than going all the way to Pt Reyes (twice as far away). We did not see any whales, but were thrilled with Rodeo Beach. It's a beautiful stretch of sand with rock cliffs on both sides. The waves breaking against the rocks are stunning. On either side of the beach, there are places to hike up the cliffs and get a better view of the ocean. There was plenty of parking close by and the beach was not crowded. And, it's a dog friendly beach so we brought out dog. It was fun to watch the dogs frolicking in the waves and surfers. One word of warning - the tide comes in fast! We were standing in what we thought was a safe place - past where the tide had been coming up and found ourselves knee deep in the ocean! Bring a change of clothes and keep your eyes on the tide!

“Great place for a morning hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

We loved this very scenic, moderately strenuous hike on the coastal trail at Rodeo Beach. It was a great balance of panoramic views, some cool ww2 relics, and a nice climb with lots of places to sit, rest and enjoy the stunning view.

Great beach for surf-watching and picnicking after the hike.

Definitely wear a hat, as the sun is pretty strong beating down on the volcanic rock, and don't get fooled in believing that since it is a shorter trail you don't need water! It's very dry and hot, so you get dehydrated pretty quickly on the ascent.

Perfect when you want a half-day hike.
