we have just returned from our second visit to the hotel sausalito. the staff are friendly and the rooms are clean, room 207 gives brilliant views over the park, and you can see the ferries and taxis if you are in a rush to catch either.
we have also stayed at the nearby casa madrona, where the atmosphere is impersonal.

Room Tip: room 207 particularly good, overlooking, park and ferry terminal.

My wife and I spent a few evenings here while exploring Saualito, Mt.Tamalpias, Muir Woods, etc. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was big and hot, which was great after long days of hiking. Great views of a park and the touristy section of Sausalito and easy access to the Ferry boats in the Bay.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was not outrageous. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for three nights and were upgraded upon check-in. A nice, very clean room overlooking the park. In fact, every night, we had Happy Hour at our room table overlooking the park. Fun people watching. The bed was very comfy. We had a large walk-in shower with a stained glass window. Service was professional; all had smiles everyday. The location was great--we walked all over--to include restaurants for all meals, the ferry dock, shopping, walking the docks, and checking out the boats/houseboats. The complimentary water and tasty apples were much appreciated, along with the coffee/pastry deal. Parking was one minute away. The owner was awesome--he provided wonderful weather every day we were there--blue skies, mid-60's, no rain. We even slept with the windows open--the town is real quiet at night. Will go again.

This was our second stay at hotel Sausalito. The only thing disappointing was the rain, but even so the stay was great. Clean, comfortable hotel in a quaint little town that is easily accessible to San franscisco by ferry which is a very short walk from hotel. Has a nice little courtyard which would be great for having a bottle of wine in the evening. Angelino's Italian restaurant did not disappoint! This time of year seems to have had some places closing a bit early. October was a bit more busy and had better weather. But even with the rain we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Overlooking park is wonderful!

Excellent view from the clean and quiet room.
Service was excellent and the perks of bottles of water and apples was an added touch to the Scottish service!
Great little cafe downstairs too.

If you want to stay in Sausalito and not pay a fortune this is a good place to stay. Driving in to San Francisco is not bad except for the $6.00 toll on the Golden Gate. However it is exciting crossing the bridge especially if you are a tourist like us. Basic rooms are a bit small but include all the basics and you get a voucher for coffee and pastries at the cafe right downtairs.

The Hotel Sausalito was a great location when we visited the San francisco area and the wine country. We stayed for 4 nights. It was just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and located in a beautiful small town. The hotel was small and the so were the rooms, but were clean and quite adequate for my wife and I. There was a lot across the street where you could park for a nominal fee. The owner and his daughter who we saw every day were fantastic and very helpful. We would go back and stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the bay have great views including a view of Alcatraz.
