I went to the US for a few weeks, including San Fransisco and stayed at this hotel in Sausalito. The room was beautiful and the beds were great. The staff was very friendly and helpful and in the morning we got free coffee and pastries:) Even though it is just outside San Fransisco, it is close enough (you get to cross the Golden Gate bridge everytime you drive to San Fransisco). I could recommend this to hotel to anyone, because it just has it all for a low price. Great Hotel!!

Hotel Sausalito is a beautiful boutique hotel set on the water’s edge with stunning views over to San Francisco. Billy and his family add a warm welcome to the mix with their Glaswegian humor and customer care. Perfect for an adult retreat or family bolt hole. We will be back.

This nice little hotel certainly helped my vacation experience be a good one. Excellent service made me and my friend feel like the staff were genuinely concerned with our well being and the complimentary apples and water in the hallway only added to that feeling.

The rooms were pretty and very tidy. The beds were VERY comfortable! Made me fall asleep in no-time.

All in all, we had a very pleasant experience in the Hotel Sausalito and will certainly be staying there again next time we visit the city.

Booked this hotel after reading the reviews but found it rather disappointing. The location is good and it is very nice to be able to stroll out of the door to explore the shops and restaurants of Sausalito. However, our room was very small and despite staying for 3 nights and paying extra for a park view room, the only park view we had was of the car park. It was extremely noisy with traffic at 6.30am each morning and drunks until 2.30 am on Saturday night. Also, the 'hotel' is not really a hotel - it just has a very small entrance downstairs and a corridor of bedrooms upstairs and in that respect it is reminiscent of the cheap Paris hotels of our youth when we couldn't afford better! In a month-long trip to California and Arizona this was just about the only hotel room that did not come up to expectations. We had 2 very good dinners at Poggios and enjoyed our morning coffees and pastries at the cafe next door despite the staff not really wanting to be there!

My wife & I stayed here for the last three nights of our honeymoon. It served our purpose. It is a nice old building that is in new condition. There were paint samples on the building, should have fresh coat by now. The bathroom has new tile floor & shower. Our park-view room had one queen bed- comfortable with lots of pillows. Small flat-screen TV, DVD player, & cable box in closet- all cheap. We tried to watch a new store-bought DVD & it could not read disk.

Right next to ferry & parking lot [although we braved the bridge toll & parking all three days]. Easy access to 101/Golden Gate Bridge. Parking is flat rate $10 per day, all prepaid at check-in, with in & out privileges- they validate your ticket before you leave lot each time.
“Breakfast” consisted of one coupon per person per day to the café under the hotel. You get one Costco Danish & one coffee or tea. I do not like coffee or tea, so they allowed me a cold morning lemonade. The third morning we opted to pay too much down the street for real food. Last coupons were not a waste, they traded me for a dessert in the evening [although against policy].

During both of the two full days there [3 nights], I put the “Do not disturb” hanger on the door while we played in SF, & both days housekeeping came in & cleaned the room. Nothing was missing, & the fresh towels were nice, but it is annoying & wasteful to unwrap a new bar of soap for the sink & shower everyday. The self-serve fresh apples & bottled water in the hallway were appreciated.

Rates vary between $155-$285 as of fall 2009. We Paid $195 each night, plus parking. We felt comfortable, safe, & relaxed in the room & town as a whole.
