Even though the trip was for business in San Francisco, I was extremely pleased that I had decided to stay here again instead of some hotel in the City. I've been to San Francisco many, many times, and stayed in many hotels here. But Hotel Sausalito remains a favorite. It's quiet, extremely clean, and reasonable. While it's true that some of the rooms are on the smaller side, they are certainly more than adequate. I've stayed in places where you have to negotiate your way in to the room with your luggage, one bag at a time - and then find a way to close the door AND get to the bed. The point is to visit the area, not hide in your room all day. When it's time to go to the room, the bed is very comfortable and the place quiet. Fabulous. No pan handlers around here like in the City. No traffic noise. No rowdiness. Just peaceful. Ferry ride is perfect commute. If you have reasonable expectations, you will love this hotel, and perhaps even be pleasantly surprised. Manager and rest of staff are a delight.

We stayed at the Hotel Sausalito for 2 nights upon arrival to San Francisco. It was in a great location and our room had a view of the "park". We could also see the ferries/water from our window. The bathroom was lovely with natural sunlight from the skylight. Would have only been better if there was a bigger television (but not a big deal) and a fridge. Otherwise loved it. I actually thought that the free coffee and pastry was good but you have to get there early if you want a chocolate croissant :) We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

A lovely hotel - and right by the ferry, so it's a good alternative to staying in San Francisco. It has very nice and extremely helpful staff and management. The only thing missing from my point of view was a coffee maker - a voucher for a coffee and stale pastry for breakfast from a not very welcoming cafe owner next door doesn't really cut it. Sausalito, while very pretty, has not very many 'useful' shops (ie they all sell souvenirs of variable quality), although the bookshop is a pleasant surprise (but very small). This hotel was recommended to me and I would definitely recommend it to others. Be aware that the rooms at the back have a view of brick walls and piping, but we did see a hummingbird on the little outdoor area.

Great location and wonderful accomodations. We stayed two nights before moving on to Sonoma and hated to leave. Billy and his staff were courteous and helpful. You can always expect a laugh when you talk with Billy. His Scottish wit adds to the overall charm of an already altogether charming place.

The Hotel Sausalito was a perfect relaxing last 2 night stay after a months visit to the states. Just what I needed, and if I lived within a 100 mile radius of SFO, I'd make a bi - monthly visit just for complete R&R. I love the place and couldn't fault anything about it. Breakfast (hot chocolate and pastry) at the cafe downstairs was the perfect start to the perfect day in Sausalito

We planned a short 3 day get away to San Francisco where we wanted to see as much as possible but did not want to feel like we were rushing around. The solution stay at the charming old Hotel Sausalito. It is located by the ferry dock to San Francisco so we could explore Sausalito one day by foot, take the ferry to San Francisco and explore it one day and take our car and drive north and take in Muir Woods early in the morning, have lunch in charming Healdesburg and visit 3 wineries in Dry Creek/Sonoma in the afternon and still be back to Sausalito for dinner that night.

We decided to base ourselves in Sausalito and catch the ferry to San Francisco to sightsee... catching the ferry home each afternoon to such a relaxing little harbour was wonderful. The staff were fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the dry Scottish humour. The room was lovely and cosy with a view across the park to the water. Would thoroughly recommend Hotel Sausalito and hope to be back one day.
