“Contemporary Cafe, paying attention to details”
Reviewed 12 February 2013

Now have used this cafe three times; once for a meeting, once to stop with colleagues for coffees, and then just recently for a catered lunch and morning coffee which was delivered to a company close by. Byron pays attention to detail and described the coffee perfectly. Service was prompt in terms of making arrangements and all preparation for the catering was efficiently handled; with good follow-up calls, voice-mails and e-mails. Furthermore, this is a light, well decorated, airy space with European furniture. Great service and an enjoyable experience.

“The Peoples' Choice”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

A creative, exciting, new idea in breakfast/lunch venues, this hidden gem in Scotts Valley is worth checking out. The owner/partner is also the chef, and he is (get this) sincerely interested in what the people of this Santa Cruz area are interested. Twice when we have stopped by for lunch, he or one of his colleagues has asked us not just how we liked our food, but what we'd be interested in having added to the menu; what we think about the current setup (it's very plain, since the venue is a former corporate cafeteria in an industrial complex, but the space is enhanced by huge windows and a lovely outdoor dining patio). I heard the owner telling a local that he's open to suggestions about hours of operation; and they offer a great catering service for private and corporate events. The menu for breakfasts and lunches varies somewhat each day; if you "like" the cafe on Facebook you will usually get an advance peek at the day's lunch offerings. The food is as locovore-sourced as possible. The amazing hamburger station cooks your choice to order, using grass-fed organic ground beef, hand-formed patties, and locally baked buns. There are usually one or two soups on offer; a select-it-yourself salad station manned by an attendant, a very up to date little coffee bar; and a choice of two or three interesting lunch entrees. We tried the place once for breakfast; it's like Mom asking "What would you like this morning? How do you want your eggs? Want to watch me cook?" ... This spot has great potential; map the drive and head on out there soon -- you might have a good idea to share with these people as you watch your food land on your cafeteria tray!
