“Quiet respite, great atmosphere, good menu, so-so food/value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

River's End is a great location for a quiet breakfast or lunch. Away from traffic and noise, fresh sea air, view is good for a sandy beach with a pier and offshore rigs. Menu is quite complete, quality of food is OK, service is always superb. Need to update or replace some of the outside dinning tables/chairs. All the other "Good" reviews are spot on. I visit monthly with a friend and always looking for a return visit.

“Good food that's slow to the table”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

Nice little beachside cafe that allows dogs in the outside area. Waitstaff was quick with drinks (and coffee refills) but the food took a good 20 minutes to arrive, and it wasn't particularly busy. We were happy it was so good we forgot how long it took to get to us.

Although not specifically gluten-free, the menu adapted well to our needs without any special requests.

“You just have to see it and try it out.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

Great for casual breakfast/lunch. Just go for a kick-back time and relax. On the Beach! Open in winter and cool weather only until 2:45 pm but they will have dinner when it gets warm. There is a small indoor area in case it gets too cool for you. Dogs are allowed which is truly rare.
I almost hate to give a good review because I would like to save this place for my own getaway!
Fish and chips are halibut and steak fries - muy bueno.

“Looks can be deceiving”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

When I went there with my friends, I thought, "this is a good restaurant???" It looks like another tired beach shack place. Think again. The food was fresh and plentiful. My friend's half order of nachos would be a hefty full order anywhere else. Another friend loved her scallop dish, recommended by the waitress. I love it when a recommendation lives up to it's promise. My fish tacos were very tasty, filled with lots of fresh halibut and cabbage. I took off points for "ambiance." It is right on the beach, which is nice. Fix up the interior and it would get back another "dot". But, then, it would become crowded and we couldn't get in as fast... It really is a hidden gem among the restaurants along the Seal Beach/Long Beach shore.
