“Awesome Location, Good Food, Slow Service”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

What a great place to have a relaxing lunch at the beach. Great breeze, beautiful sunshine. For someone from the Midwest eating lunch on the beach with all of the pelicans flying by was definitely a treat.

The food was good, definitely better than average. We had a mixture of breakfast and lunch, meats and fish.

Service was not bad but it was slow. One of the locals who brought us here said that at the beach things are more laid back. That was an understatement.

We had to stand and wait to be seated even though there were plenty of open tables.

We received exactly what we ordered but it seemed to take a while to get our food. Drinks were never refilled. It took a long time to get a check and even longer for them to pick up the check. It was almost comical what we did to get the server’s attention.

I guess all-in-all, don’t come here if you are in a hurry.

“Nice place, careful of the ketchup”
Reviewed 18 August 2014 via mobile

My wife and I enjoy reading the San Gabriel River Trail to Seal Beach. When we do, we stop in here. Very casual and laid back. A sign warns you to chill as you will need to wait as others have before. Very pleasant on the beach and the food is pretty good. The pastrami sandwich is especially good. Careful of the ketchup bottles, sitting in the sun all day, they may gush out when opened. Mine certainly did. No matter, we will return.

“Location and food equally great!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

The Cafe is not easy to find but worth the search. It is on the beach with shade from overhangs and umbrella tables. It is handicap accessable. There are many locals and bicyclists frequenting this location. Make sure you have sunglasses, sunscreen and a jacket if you are going to linger over the relaxing feel to this restaurant. They will actually provide a blanket if you get chilled when the pitcher of mimosas doesn't warm you up! We have only been there for breakfast during the week. There just might be a wait later in the morning or on weekends but.....you are at the beach! The breakfast menu is extensive. Our group had great and filling huevos rancheros with perfectly ripe avocado and black beans, pastrami and eggs, french toast, a different and delicious breakfast quesadilla. Coffee was plentiful. In season, they are open for dinner otherwise only until just before 3:00. When we returned home, the three men fell asleep with very contented looks on their faces!

“Can't beat the view”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Sitting almost on the sand, enjoying the view of the ocean, riverbed and all the people coming and going from the beach, you can't beat it.

The food is fantastic and the staff very friendly. A bit of a wait if you don't get there early and sometimes I have trouble getting refills on my coffee, but that's the worst I have to say about it.

This last weekend there was a musician on site playing lovely background music.

I highly recommend this restaurant.
