Don't usually stay at 2 star motels but this one had good reviews so decided to try it. We were staying in Seaside for one night on our way from San Francisco to Cambria, and this was a very inexpensive motel, but with a large room, very clean and ideal for a short stay. Free wifi. Neat and tidy grounds, and a complimentary continental breakfast with enough basic options to get you on your way. Excellent value for price paid.

This motel is much cheaper than those in Monterey but is only a 10 minute drive to the aquarium. Check in was easy and the room had everything we required including fridge, microwave and toiletries. There was a good breakfast in the morning including porridge, cereal, toast, muffins, danishs, coffee and juice. Hosts were happy to replenish the breakfast as required. Good place to stopover if you are driving Route 1.

We expected basic for the price and that's what we got. It was clean and although the breakfast room was tiny, we were the only ones there so we could sit at a counter on stools and enjoy a peaceful breakfast. We were not expecting much and were pleased that there were a few breakfast choices so it was a good start to our day. I was a bit surprised the motel was in a light commercial area but it was quiet and we were told it was safe to walk around so we were able to walk a couple of blocks to a grocery store to pick up snacks. Unfortunately our sink was plugged which we made the best of for the one night and reported for service as we were leaving. If you are looking for a bargain place, this works.

I'll admit it's hard to be objective on this hotel as I was stung very badly on the price. Be careful if booking through any website that over sells this motel. It's basic, very basic, and not in a nice part of town at all. You're a couple of miles outside the main town in quite a run down area, where the brightest things are the car showrooms. It's definitely a clean hotel, but you'll have to live with the smell of bleach on everything. If you want a single night somewhere cheap then don't pay more than $50 (US) per night. However, to eat anything decent you'll have to take a taxi into town (there's nothing in walking distance) so why not spend a few more bucks and stay somewhere nicer in Monterey Town itself.

While the property appears to be of an earlier era, we were delighted with many aspects. The flowering plants on the property were impressive showing a consistent attention to aesthetic. We were happy with the modern condition of the room and bathroom. The counters and tile were new, high quality, and clean. The Innkeepers were attentive and kind. The location was perfect for us as we had business in Monterey and Seaside. It was close to a laundry and a grocery which were convenient for our extended stay. That said, the immediate surrounding area was practical but not particularly scenic, but 2 blocks away were the dunes of Sand City which are scenic. The price was very fair.

Room Tip: They have a two room suite which was a pleasant surprise and quite comfortable

Other than the tight parking, there is nothing bad anyone could say about this place. I stay here every time I'm in the area, and that means dozens of visits. It is, and always has been a great place to stay. I've stayed in just about every room. They are all clean, and updated, and the staff is always super friendly, and accommodating. 5 stars all the way.
