Obviously you're not paying for a luxurious hotel - however, if you're looking for a cheap and comfortable place to stay (with a good continental breakfast!) then you'll probably be happy here. We took hot showers and slept in an unexpectedly awesome bed. Can't really complain. Only downside is that there are pretty thin walls - we could hear our neighbors chatting for a bit. Overall I'd stay here again if I were in Monterey for a night looking for a cheap hotel!

The location was great! Close to the airport, CalState Monterey Bay, Cannery Row, Aquarium, stores, and Carmel Mission. However, the room we stayed at was not as clean and I expected from a hotel chain. The carpet was wet and dirty, the AC was dusty, and the phone had a thick layer of dust. Breakfast was ok. Can't complain with fresh waffles in the morning. I think some rooms were being renovated during our stay in mid April. This hotel has potential as long as all the rooms have been renovated and kept up.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with new carpet.

I was taking my four kids and mother to visit the Monterey area. We booked a two bedroom suite, with four double beds. We arrived a little late (7PM), but check in went smoothly. When we made it to the room though, there were only three beds. Hotel management said they only had three bed suites available (despite us booking a four bed), and offered no accommodations. I would have asked for a roll-away, but there was not enough floorspace to accommodate one.

The carpet in the hotel is old and had not been vacuumed well. There were still food crumbs on the floor. Some parts of the carpet were sticky, and it felt like you were walking on tape. The bathroom tile was cracked/coming up, but they sealed sharp edges with big blobs of silicone. The bathtub itself was broken and would not let the water fill up (thus, shower only). The tub itself was not sturdy, and creaked/cracked when standing in it.

There was a small but acceptable kitchenette for our suite. This appeared to be the one highlight of the room, until we found a used / dirty cup in the cabinet.

The beds were uncomfortable, but not horribly so. More disconcerting was the bedding - it was stained! I felt very uncomfortable staying here, and we all slept with clothes on.

Despite the having a kitchenette, there was no table in the room (nor room for one). Thus if you were going to make some food, you had no place to eat it but in bed, or standing at the counter. With four kids, this made any attempt at eating-in impossible. To be fair though, I don't think anyone would want to eat in that room.

At least the kids will have a story to tell.

When I went to check out (8 AM) there was no staff there. Just a basket to drop your keys in.
