Marimar Estate Vineyards and Winery

Attraction details
Owner description: Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, the Russian River/Green Valley appellation is a perfect microclimate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles north of San Francisco, the site is influenced by the sea's cooling breezes and drifting fog. That is why Marimar Torres selected this privileged location to "export" the Torres family legacy of fine wines to California.Tasting Room open 7 days a week from 11-4.

“A Spanish gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013

Several years ago my husband and I realized that the behemoths of Napa were not for us, so we set out to explore the small wineries of Sonoma and the Russian River Valley -- we've never looked back! In 2010, on the enthusiastic recommendation of friends, we went to Marimar Estate near Sebastopol for the tapas and wine pairing and were charmed from the moment we arrived. The staff was welcoming, the pairings delightful, the wines outstanding! We joined the wine club that very day and look forward to every shipment. (I order extra of my favorites, too.) In August we returned for another visit, another leisurely tasting on the patio, another lovely day complete with greetings from Marimar Torres herself as she and the dogs set out for the vineyards. Marimar Estate is a bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth your effort.

“That girl knows how to sell.......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

My sweetheart and i stopped by the new Marimar tasting room at the Barlow in Sebastopol recently. The wines were all solid. The highlight of the tasting was how hard Jenna worked to get us to join the wine club. New wine club memberships are more important than actual bottles sold during a visit. (my opinion)

That girl knows how to sell.......if I owned a winery Jenna would be running my tasting room.

“WOW! What a great afternoon.....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

18 years ago my wife and I met over a bottle of Marimar Chardonnay and look what happened. With both of us being wine collectors, we have visited many wineries and never have we so enjoyed a tasting room visit. As we were tasting our very nice tasting room team member invited us to have their wine paring luncheon. They have a beautiful, very personal dining area and these outstanding wines are joined by delicious Spanish Tapas from Marimar's cookbook. The Russian River Wine area seems so much more inviting than the big production areas and Marimar Estates is a true compliment to the area, producing wines that have become proven winners from an area where many winemakers backed away from the challenge. If you are planning a wine getaway, take the drive to this wonderful winery!

“Be aware of the fine print”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

Nice tasting room and the wines were good. However shame on us for not reading the tasting sheet carefully beforehand. We opted for the second level of the wines on their tasting that day. After completing the tasting we wanted to purchase several bottles only to discover that Marimar will not allow you to purchase certain wines unless you join their wine club. So if you are not prepared to join, then opt for their "basic" tasting. Felt like this policy should have been fully explained beforehand especially considering that they charged extra for the wines on that tasting sheet.
